About this deal

Having Holly in my life has made me feel more capable of some sort of future, though I can’t think long term.

If you have your ears to the ground with regard to the BPD community it would have been almost impossible to miss the news that Joe Tracini (an English actor, presenter and author) has launched a new book about his life and indeed living with BPD. The book is a difficult read and Joe talks through his life from one sh*tty moment to the next but he's made me feel less alone in my struggles and by far he's given the most practical and actionable advice on preventing su! Most people with BPD are undiagnosed as it takes a pretty serious crash to sit up and think: hey, something’s not quite right here.He tries to explain what your life is like when you essentially have a brain that’s trying to kill you every day. Sure thing, we don’t experience BPD’s symptoms the same way, it’s different for everyone but i still could relate on so many things written by Joe. All these posts and pages on this site are written by people who live with BPD each and every day, so anything you read here will often be the cold hard truth, but it will also be respectful and well mannered.

Anyone and everyone should give it a read or listen perhaps for it's one of the best books out there. In his new book, Joe continues the conversation in a bid to both raise awareness and stay accountable for his wellbeing.

Joe Tracini travels to the horrible heart of his abominable illness and unflinchingly examines the misery it has heaped upon him and everyone around him.

But through this book, Joe is also an incredible advocate for those struggling with addiction and/or their mental health. The way Joe articulates himself On such a difficult subject with his humour and raw emotion is exceptional.Started this audiobook with no real intention of relating, but knowing there are others out there with similar thoughts really helped me cope with a bad few months. Tracini then proceeded to rap his way through tongue-in-cheek lyrics littered with some truths about his condition. Despite his poor mental health, Tracini has had a stable professional life – he has rarely been without work. Joe's likability and humour that you can see on TV come across in the book, and I enjoyed the autobiographical element of hearing about Joe's life. I have BPD, and this was less of a 'self-help' book and more of a commiserations book, and that's why I adored it.

Fear of abandonment, unstable relationships, chronic feelings of emptiness, impulsive self-destructive behaviours, explosive anger, self-harm, paranoia and disassociation, extreme emotional mood swings and an unclear, unstable self-image. Heartbreaking and very honest, this ‘ not a self help book ‘ details Joe’s descent into and emergence from addiction while battling with his mental health and suicidal state. His cousin, who had flunked university, taught him in the shed at the bottom of the family’s garden in Kent. Last year I wrote a book ‘Ten Things I Hate About Me’ about how to stay alive with a brain that’s trying to kill you. But he does make it obvious they were more likely to take a pair of shears to pernicious weeds in the garden rather than dig them up by the roots. But the lost has miraculously been found and over the Christmas holidays I have been able to launch into the second half.
