About this deal

A poor condition book can still make a good reading copy but is generally not collectible unless the item is very scarce. Alix and his sister both grew up to have successful careers, Stuart entered a life of criminality at a young age. Yes, it jumps all over the place in time and place (that didn't bother me, I didn't find it hard to keep up), yes the answers aren't all there, its not all wrapped up in a nice neat bow (that's what makes it real). He barely remembers Danielle who was a 10 year old bridesmaid at Stuart's wedding then disappeared as a 15 year old.

Over more than three decades he has filed hundreds of features on crime, popular culture and fashion for the Guardian, Observer, Sunday Times and Sunday Telegraph, as well as various UK and international magazines.

What makes one child successful and the other a pedophile and killer when they both grew up in the same household? He doesn't hold back on his own issues and gives a unique insight into the forgotten victims of killers - their immediate family. Which is fine, especially considering the precarious conditions he grew up under (power to him to make it out of there), but it feels a bit weird to hear him talk about the missing Danielle and her family in between the bits about his crazy French life and whatever else he had going on; it's not like he knew the missing girl, or her family, beyond meeting them once at a family wedding, so the whole "poor Danielle; her parents must be going through hell" bit feels a bit hollow. but the marketing and the title means ppl would be misled into thinking this memoir will unearth more about Stuart than what's alrdy in the news. For almost 20 years, while Campbell has been in HMP Wakefield, Alix barely told anyone of his close family connection to what was once Britain’s costliest murder case.

The murder of Danielle is a very sad story, not just because of her age and the fact that her body has never been found, but also because Stuart Campbell was her uncle, someone who she should have been able to trust.

I felt quite let down by this story as it detailed too much about Alix then about Stuart and his crime. On 18th June 2001, Danielle Jones was abducted, sparking the largest and most expensive investigation ever mounted by Essex Police. Danielle’s parents Linda and Tony have promised not to block his parole if he reveals where their daughter is.

This isn’t a book about the author’s “brother the killer” per se but about how the author discovers his brother’s crimes, and reflects on his family at a kind of historical crossroads out of a gritty, industrial, and violent era into the modern technological era—Stuart’s crimes was one of the first where cellphone towers could triangulate the killers whereabouts.Nicki Minaj releases Megan Thee Stallion diss track Big Foot and hits low: 'Why did you lie about your lipo? Babygirl' is the new type of man that everyone loves - from Barry Keoghan to Jacob Elordi (although nobody can quite agree what it means! He regularly picked her up from the school bus stop in his van, sent her 'an inordinate amount of text messages' and kept a diary chronicling his contact with her.

I like to see how crimes have affected not only the people involved, but the families too, and Alix really did show how this affected him. However it was super interesting, and the idea of nature vs nurture was a strong theme within this book - particularly with the final couple of chapters.

I think that as a journalist you'd need to have a curious nature as well as an inquisitive mind, that need to know spark so I'm surprised that he never checked it out. It seems unbelievable that he could keep that deviant and violent side of himself a secret so well and for so long, bearing in mind that he served 2 previous prison terms. Few joined the dots between Alix, who worked for high-end fashion magazines and lived in Paris, New York, LA and now Barbados, and Campbell, who never left East Tilbury in Essex except for prison spells. on Monday 18th June 2001, Danielle Jones left home dressed in her school uniform - and promptly vanished. I love to read true crime mainly from a psychological perspective, as that’s what I’m studying at university.
