About this deal

It’s thick and styled like a guitar amp lead with the signature Marshall gold accents on its plugs meaning even if you do have to use it you won’t detract from the overall aesthetic of the headphones. There’s no noise cancelling or multi-device connecting here, but you do get solid Bluetooth technology, a built-in microphone and neat built-in controls to enjoy. I'm not clear if bluetooth and ANC are just pure add-on features with no detriment, or if each model has a truly different sound profile. Although I tend to use these headphones at my desk, I have no qualms about carrying them in my bag or wearing them in public, something I often avoid with other pairs because of the space they occupy and how ridiculous they look on my head.

You can also create a custom EQ setting by adjusting the sliders of a number of frequencies, ranging from 160 Hz to 6. Ultimately, though, it’s the slightly below-par noise cancelling that undermines these headphones’ charge to the top.

One of our favorite features by far is the multi-purpose control knob on the left ear cup which neatly offers a variety of controls meaning you truly get to take advantage of the wire free Bluetooth technology by leaving your device in your bag.

Regardless of whatever genre of music I threw at Marshall's Monitor II headphones - be it classical, folk, electronica, or heavy metal - I found myself consistently in a state of shock and awe at the sheer range of these staggering headphones. The lack of balance in the Marshall Monitors isn't enough to impact many genres, but it does mean if you’re a fan of instrumental and classical titles you won’t hear these songs at their absolute best. once we’re able with improved sound quality measurements, isolation performance plots, and standardized microphone demos.audio port should you want to listen with the included coiled wire, as well as a USB-C charging port.

A 15-minute charge is enough to get you five hours of playback, while charging the battery to full power will take you about two hours. It’s not heavy at 320 grams, but it’s also not nearly as light as something like the Bose QC35 II, which weighs in at 235 grams. Using the Voice Memos app on an iPhone 6s, both mics allowed us to understand every word we recorded, but the wired mic was far clearer, with fewer audio artifacts than the built-in one.

Since its foundation in 1962, the long-established English company Marshall have been committed to high-quality and robust stage equipment with a timeless design, their latest closed Bluetooth headphones Monitor II A. Though there haven't been any massive overhauls in terms of design here, the addition of Bluetooth is more than welcome. True, it has some active noise canceling, but so do some of the other top active noise canceling headphones, and those do a better job of filtering noise. On the Monitor II headphones are three primary control buttons, with a quick, tactile button to toggle Active Noise Cancelling, an excellent multi-function 'M-Button' to allow users to switch between three customisable equaliser settings, and the crowning glory of the Monitor II's convenience, a delightful control knob (now in all-black compared to the original bronze colour). The feature full headphones sport spatial audio, which is absent from the Monitor II ANC, and AAC and LDAC Bluetooth codecs. For audiophiles, gamers, editors, lovers of Marshall products - there really aren't many options that can outwardly knock the absolute splendour of Marshall's Monitor II headphones - from the solid battery to the excellent, vibrant sound unlike few other headphones at its budget, it's rare that I am lost for words while reviewing headphones - and the Monitor II's have consistently left me unable to speak, they're just that good. Nobody uses those modes because they’re almost always cranked out willy-nilly, just to give the listener the appearance of having lots of cool options.
