About this deal

During World War One, versions were produced behind the lines, usually made simply of plywood, although old steel oil containers were also used. It's not an all action war story (or I wouldn't have bought it), it's a story about survival and friendship under difficult circumstances. Inspired by a fellow prisoner who built a radio out of “this and that”, Clair spends the bulk of the film pooling together various resources to build a violin from scratch.

Her army had stood by her then, and was now trying desperately to improve, as it had to face Frederick the Great, the master-soldier of the era. Conscription, taxation, constitutional change, bureaucracy, logistics, all of these dominated countries that never witnessed a campaign. The army provides an important view of 18th Century Bohemia, Hungary, Croatia, Lombardy, Belgium and Austria. You don’t need diffusion to bring back that natural film look, it’s built into Cooke lenses out of the box. Wesley Johnson's lensing is edgier than we often see from a BYU production, yet it fits the film beautifully while living within BYU's usual emphasis on strong values. Instrument of War Independent WWII drama based on the events surrounding Clair Cline, a US bomber pilot who was shot down and taken to a prisoner of war camp.

Instrument of War is a period piece based on the true story of Clair Cline, a US Army Air Forces pilot shot down over occupied Holland during World War II and held at the German Stalag Luft 1 POW camp, and “The Prison Camp Violin” he made from materials found in the camp and by trading Red Cross cigarettes for a bow. When one of the men unexpectedly dies relatively early in the movie, it is legitimately heartbreaking even though we haven’t had much time to get to know him.

After a wounded crewman dies in the woods near the landing site, the pilot yanks off one of the dead man's dog tags, causing the chain to break very easily, and the pilot takes the tag with him. I just wish Lindsey Stirling play that Violin once, the same song Clair composed, it would be the best moment. British Cinematographer Magazine is endorsed and read by: BSC - British Society of Cinematographers; GBCT - Guild of British Camera Technicians and IMAGO - International Federation of Cinematographers. Johnson has been a fan of Cooke lenses for a decade, as an AFI Alumnus and having worked as a professional cinematographer for the past six years. It tells the true story of Clair Cline (Jack Ashton), a US soldier who was shot down during WWII and taken to a Nazi prisoner-of-war camp. Its about surviving in a prisoner of war camp run by commandant who gave them the bear minimum to survive and the instrument was something they focused on to get through it. Luxury items, such as musical instruments, were one of the first industries to face these restrictions.
