I know this stuff can change when you've had the chance to try different genres for extended periods of time. The audio input and output can even be further enhanced by the detailed levels of customisation through the Epos Gaming Suite software, which if you’re a geek like me or just want want to tweak endlessly, I think it’s safe to say I’m in love and these won’t be leaving my head for some time.

The only minor niggle we had with the headset was the relatively short length of the combo jack and the deeply recessed 3. Meanwhile, the closed variant has slightly muddier audio, but does a much better job of blocking out ambient noise and leaks far less.The H6Pro is wired only, so you may wish to consider the brilliant RIG 800 Pro HX or the Epos H3Pro Hybrid if you want to go wireless. It is important to note that neither the Open or Closed Acoustic version of the headset offer any sidetone functionality, so that feature must be enabled in your soundcard if it supports it. And as you game into the night, its lightweight build, padded headband, ventilated ear pads, and 2-axis hinged ear cups will keep you comfortable for hours. If you choose to remove it, EPOS has also added a magnetic blank to fill in the gap, which is a really nice touch, especially if you are looking to use these to just listen to music, which they are more than capable of doing. The Closed Acoustic headset features a smooth suede material in the inner part of the earcups, while the outer region is covered in faux-leather padding to help create a seal.

Between the open and closed variants, we preferred the open-backed model due to being in a relatively quiet area. The design lines are much similar, with the same distinctive ‘chunky’ presence, however the H6Pro does away with some of the bulk for cleaner lines, and is very much in line with their older, H3 gaming headsets. Finally, we assess the sound blocking or noise canceling capabilities and the quality of the music produced by the headphone's speakers.The microphone is a key component of any gaming headset, and as such, we give all the mics a careful combing over. The headset has a slim headband with padding, and it also has a slider on each side with labelled increments. While the mic can be completely removed very easily, it never fell off due to the strong magnetic grip. Opening it up, we see the H6PRO itself, which comes sitting in a pre-cut foam insert which is glued into the bottom of the box.
