About this deal

The GAIA’s are threaded into the base of the speaker or subwoofer to replace the existing spikes or feet. Threading the GAIA’s into the base of the speaker creates a strong connection with the speaker. With the top of the GAIA housing connected with the speaker and the bottom of the GAIA connected to the supporting surface, all of the energy is then managed by the GAIA’s internal isolator. Unfortunately, our Installation Service excludes all gas appliances. It is the customer’s responsibility to find a gas safe engineer to connect the appliance. Any work conducted by a third part gas safe engineer will be at the customer’s expense and we will not accept any liability for their work. IsoAcoustics Inc. has been manufacturing and distributing isolation products in audio industry since January 2012. The first most noticeable difference for me when I finished installing the GAIA III was how much more “freer” the sound was from the speakers, the bass especially instantly stood out, far more insight and detailed. Bass extension was far better controlled and tighter with the upper regions being more defined and natural in presentation. My system is hardly lumpy or bloated, but a more explorative and musical nature came with seemingly more weight as the bass was almost able to breath more and felt so much less restrictive in how it interacted with me and my room. Even the nasty node I get in one corner by an alcove disappeared considerably.

IsoAcoustics makes it easy to select the right product for your particular needs. Simply go to their online calculator and select your product category (speaker, subwoofer, turntable, etc.), enter in the manufacturer and model and voila! You’ll get your product’s dimensions, weight, recommended isolator, and the thread size you need. They sound superb in terms of transient response, transparency, live-like soundstaging & precise imaging. Well balanced highs & lows. And so, in my personal quest to minimize vibration, I came upon IsoAcoustics, a company whose products I was casually familiar with but never had hands-on experience. The range is designed for floor standing speakers and has been Crafted with the vision of providing an extraordinary acoustic performance. My 2-way KEF bookshelf loudspeakers are mounted on sand/lead shot-filled tripod on spikes on wall-to-wall carpeted concrete floor of my house basement. Optimal results are achieved by installing the GAIA isolators with the logo facing the listening position, or rotated 180 degrees, to align the isolators with the speaker’s motive forces. Lift and place the speakers into position as the GAIA lower isolators will adhere to the supporting surface. Unless spikes still speak to you so loudly that you cannot countenance any other form of support system on religious grounds, the IsoAcoustics Gaia makes a whole lot of sense. If you want to hear what your loudspeakers really sound like, put them on a set of these support feet. It’s like your loudspeakers just got a significant upgrade! This makes the speakers disappear more or in some songs completely, very nice as before I was always aware of my speakers. The one thing that my months-long experience with IsoAcoustics GAIA isolators taught me is that decoupling the speakers from the flooring substrate and dampening the resulting vibrations plays a role in improving the perceived soundstage, imaging detail, and improves the overall experience of the music. Moreover, isolation most certainly needs to be part of our conversation of optimizing speaker-room performance and as far as I'm concerned now belongs as an essential part of our optimization toolkit. In addition to imaging, the effect on bass notes was physically and audibly noticeable. The bass energy that was rattling through the hardwood floor, sofa, and surrounding objects was mastered. But here’s the important nuance to that statement. Bass was mastered without being emasculated. It’s as though the GAIA effectively neutered the deleterious effects of the room and furnishings while letting the music run free. It wasn’t so much room correction as it was isolation. IsoAcoustics has been around since 2012. Yet in that short period of time, the company seems to have made some fairly significant strides. Today, IsoAcoustics offers a variety of audio isolation products geared towards home audio speakers, professional studio monitors, source components, turntables, guitar amplifiers, and even stage monitors. The company serves the audiophile, cinemaphile, musician, and professional engineer alike. The GAIA III includes thread adaptors for sizes M6-1.0, M8-1.25 and ¼”-20. Alternative thread size adaptors are available upon request through IsoAcoustics distributors.

What I found really interesting is the phase chart. On both speakers (which makes me think it's not measurement changes) the phase is different by about the same amount between the without and with gaia measurements. The difference spans the ~150Hz - ~550Hz range, which is a pretty critical range. It's also changed in the upper registers. I wonder if it's that you're hearing. All speakers idealise cabinet inertness, look at the Q acoustics concept 500 speakers (will buy these one day!) and the lengths designers went to to dampen the cabinet. Optimal results are heard by installing these units with the logo facing the listening position, or rotated 180 degrees, to align the isolators with the speaker’s motive forces, lift and place the speakers into position as the GAIA lower isolator will adhere to the supporting surface.

Cons

Lest I give the wrong impression that the difference was solely with bass, let me simply call your attention to Sarah McLachlan’s “Love Come [Piano Version]”, Natalie Merchant’s “Maggie Said”, and Lana Del Rey’s “Mariner’s Apartment Complex.” In each instance I perceived the overall presentation of those songs to be more focused, detailed, refined, and controlled. While there are many kinds of footersout there that make various claims and can be obscenely expensive and even sometimes not even pleasant to look at, the IsoAcoustics Gaia are different: They have elegant and classy looks, relatively low prices—and they work. I think my tinkering, while subdued for now, was well worth the adventure. Highly recommended. While we may romanticize the quest, the actual journey to peak performance is far less fanciful but no less noble. Perhaps the journey would be less complicated if we reframed it as: “How can I optimize my system’s performance in my listening room?” Now there is the nuance! AB31, AB32, AB33, AB34, AB35, AB36, AB37, AB38, AB41, AB42, AB43, AB44, AB45, AB46, AB47, AB48, AB49, AB50, AB51, AB52, AB53, AB54, AB55, AB56 GAIA was tested on two separate large scale speaker systems with one on vinyl and the other on concrete flooring.

For those of you in apartment complexes, I don’t want to give the misimpression that the GAIA are somehow your answer to stopping bass transference between rooms or apartments. That’s not what the GAIA will do.
