McGillis can be considered as an inversion of the "Char Clone" trope to the Gundam franchise; while most Char Clones dons aliases while affiliating with the enemy faction of their series, McGillis has already sided within the enemy faction in his true name and use his alias to support the protagonist.
Unlike the other Gundam Frames in the Post Disaster timeline, the Gundam Vidar is named after the Æsir god of revenge from Norse mythology instead of a Demon in the Ars Goetia. Rustal and Vidar later converse about Iok's recent behavior. Rustal mentions that much of what Iok has done is unnecessary, and that Iok would recognize that fact if Vidar would only remove his mask. Vidar agrees with the sentiment but reminds him that until they understand McGillis' intentions, he will not remove it. Rustal admits that it was a difficult thing to understand another man, whereas Vidar insisted he himself had the right since he had been killed by McGillis. Hosoya is one of two Try voice actors to appear, alongside Yoshimasa Hosoya, voice of Saga Adou in Try and Orga Itsuka in IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS. Interestingly, while both retained the traits of fighting on opposing sides, their group's alignments are different. Two years after the battle of Edmonton, Gaelio, under the alias Vidar, pilots the Gundam Vidar that is equipped with the Alaya-Vijnana Type-E. This pseudo Alaya-Vijnana System contains the remaining brain of Ein and his Alaya-Vijnana system. Thanks to Ein's brain in the system, Gaelio can utilize the Gundam Vidar's full power without the adverse effects associated with using the Alaya-Vijnana System. Gaelio sometimes speaks of the Gundam Vidar as if it is his fallen friend Ein due to this.
After regrouping with Julieta, Vidar apologizes for his late arrival which Julieta brushes off. Julieta asked Vidar to look after Iok Kujan while she heads off to stop the Hashmal. When Julieta is given permission to bench test Gjallarhorn's newest machine, Vidar is surprised. When Julieta questions him about it, he admits that it was not a task he believed Rustal would ask of her.

McGillis Fareed is polite, courteous, and can be considered even charming, but he can be very serious about his work, which makes him seem cold-hearted to those who don't know him personally. He is analytical and thoughtful, and usually more reserved and serious than his friend Gaelio Bauduin, but he will have an occasional cheeky smile and does have a sense of humor. He has a habit of fiddling with his bangs when he thinks. Ein and Crank have a mentor-student relationship, with Crank trying to show Ein what it means to have honor as a soldier. Crank's death is Ein's driving force to destroy Tekkadan, having rationalized that Crank was mercilessly murdered. His dedication to his late mentor eventually grew to the point of fanaticism, at which he refused to believe Mikazuki Augus' claim that Crank wanted to die in his final battle. While returning to his ship, Gaelio comes across the damaged remains of Julieta's mobile suit and rescues her. He apologizes to Rustal for failing to defeat McGillis, but is assured that a plan is in motion to handle the rebels. He then visits Julieta in the medical bay, where he is chided for not visiting her sooner. After hearing her resolve to get stronger as a human, a smiling Gaelio approves of her decision. Gaelio later joins Rustal and Iok in planning how to deal with Tekkadan.
Later on, he dons a mask with a wig on it, becoming Montag and appearing in front of Kudelia Aina Bernstein and Fumitan Admoss to convince them to leave Dort 3, and informing them it was Nobliss Gordon who sent the weapons for the workers' coup d'état via Tekkadan. He also revealed that Fumitan is an agent of Nobliss. A large lance designed for Kimaris Vidar's use, it is the suit's symbolic weapon. [1] The lance's tip section is capable of spinning, enhancing the suit's thruster powered charges. [1] The drill lance is also equipped with two 200mm cannons and two built-in Dainsleif launchers. [1] [5] The Dainsleifs are loaded with 8.5m long Special KEP Bullets, which are stored in the suit's shield. [3] A thruster is mounted behind each 200mm cannon and can be used to further enhance the power of the suit's lance thrust. [3]
