The 2012 original was born from Tatum’s experiences as a teenage stripper in Florida and was a huge success, but it was the follow-up which saw the group head out on a road trip to Florida that became a phenomenon and went on to inspire a hit stage show on the West End, titled Magic Mike Live. Mike begins to find out about the socialite's true plan while he also has to contend with training up a brand new roster of dancers for the stage.

In May 2022 Tatum opened up about the realities of training for his role in Magic Mike, noting that he doesn't think his figure in the film is 'natural'. Like Ocean's Twelve (and Thirteen), I'm fairly confident that Magic Mike's Last Dance will be reevaluated in a few years as one of Soderbergh's best motion pictures. It turns out it wasn't quite Mike's last performance, however, with the release of Magic Mike's Last Dance coming up.
