About this deal

I poured a couple fingers into one of the small leaded crystal tasting cups and the fragrance fully bloomed into a wonderfully evocative symphony of classic whiskey purfumes. You may be aware that I recently traveled to Peru, which is a wonderful country full of delicious food, stunning vistas, and some of the nicest folks you’ll ever have the pleasure of meeting. Today, I will be tasting two incarnations of a blended scotch whisky to which I have no sentimental attachment and which remains widely available today.

The fourth step of the process is the distillation, which is traditionally done twice for Scotch whisky and thrice for Irish whiskey. Complex and smooth, it’s our favorite Irish whiskey if you’re looking to tick all the boxes at once. My father in law has amassed a few bottles of whisky for me (presents and he doesn’t drink whisky) from his place in Bilbao.

Further obscuring is the white waiter’s coat label, sporting some lettering that looks like it’s straight off an engraved invitation. There’s certainly no hurry, as you note, but if you’re going to take your time you might consider decanting the bottle into smaller-sized sample bottles to reduce the oxygen contact with the whisky. I decided to try it because while currently visiting Portugal… it’s rock bottom cheap… and I like it!

Freshly-mowed Kentucky bluegrass lawn, more Daiquiri Ice, and the unsalted meaty-nuttiness of cashews. And while it definitely evokes a specific environment of white coated waiters in dark elegant dining rooms, it remains to be seen how younger drinkers will respond to this traditional style.I’m getting a good bit of vanilla combined with some sweet caramel, but there’s also a good bit of alcohol burn coming through, which I don’t always get in a whiskey of this proof. Its roots date back to 1966 with the distribution of the famous Knappogue Castle 1951 whisky, one of the oldest and rarest known Irish whiskies.
