About this deal

She has read and re-read it making different choices each time and talking to me about how it changed the story. I wanted consequences, re-discovery, hard-to-reach pages, variety, value and enough regret for the reader to want to read the book again. Because of the lack of options, I also wasn’t able to find many of these titles that were by authors or illustrators of color. Sarah Coyle and Adam Walker-Parker’s choose-your-own-adventure style picture book for readers aged 3+ is a fun way of introducing children to making decisions and following different story paths. Think Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird here — this is a central symbol and significant piece of dialogue in the novel.

This is the kind of thing that I tend to encourage them to do with most books anyway as it's a good way to keep them engaged and get them involved so the way the story incorporates this into the illustrations adds even more fun to the story. My favourite bits were where the choices smashed into something approaching narrative: where Jonathan happened upon an actor dressed as a merchant or digitally imposed onto a tree.

Even if your title isn’t just where the action takes place (like Middlemarch by George Eliot), it’s something to have in the back of your mind. The You Choose series also includes You Choose, You Choose in Space, You Choose Your Dreams, and a You Choose Coloring Book. The children's favourite part of the story was definitely finding Trouble amongst all of the aliens. Art is often used to look at beauty from different angles, asking questions about what makes a subject or image beautiful and how that affects how we interpret it. The illustrations are bright, colourful, and really detailed, so there are lots to look at on each page.

What is the condition, what are their dreams, and how do they find a way through the obstacles they face?Find out about the latest book in the 'Girl, Missing' series, Secret Sister, in this short video by author Sophie McKenzie. One of the most powerful aspects of art is the exploration and interpretation of themes, which are also essential components of themes. Pick-a-story books are tonnes of fun and can also support speech and language development, encourage independent thinking and introduce children to decision-making. They found this a lot of fun and a bit of a challenge which just added to the excitement they had when they found the right Trouble.

These collaborative storytelling books can help to encourage kids to tell their own stories and develop their creativity, but with a structure to make it less intimidating to start. Going this route allows authors to use an already beautiful and poetic turn of phrase that alludes to a theme in their own book.

An intrepid reporter takes on a large corporation conducting a massive agricultural crime threatening global food security for individual profit. If you want to have an interactive reading experience with your kid — or you want to give a kid in your life the chance to explore a branching story on their own, try these pick-a-path picture books! The first bowl was too hot, the second was too cold but the third was just right so she eats it all up.
