I love the Talisker DE. In addition to being delicious, it’s one of those whiskies to which I attach a specific memory of a specific night: sitting around a wood fire blazing on my hearth, infant firstborn on my lap, BS’ing with some family late into the night on a cold fall evening right after I finished renovating my basement into the “medieval Irish pub” in 2011. Quite peppery (hey, it's Talisker!) with the same elements returning: olives, citrus fruits, sweet raisins (soaked in rum?) and a light smokiness. The Talisker in 2021 was a 10-year-old expression and after its initial aging in American Oak, it was also finished in ex-Amoroso cask.
