About this deal

There weren’t many beautiful lines, but I didn’t really care, because that wouldn’t really fit into this book.

If I had to use a book to describe what loyalty and friendship are...this book would definitely be one of my first choices. Thinking that they’d go and have some fun, several men jumped overboard, including her father. But instead of the women fleeing, screaming to get away, it was the men who shrieked until their heads disappeared below the water’s surface. Have you ever wished you could wield a sword and battle sea-beasts, explore bright blue oceans and listen to the song of sirens? From the start, this book set the tone of adventure and humor. Getting captured (willingly) might seem like gloom and doom, but Alosa is so entertaining. She is taken prisoner and her crew is freed. From the start, Alosa proves to be a handful. She is brazen and smart-mouthed, and she is feisty. She's spirited and unafraid to keep trying. She has a plan and she doesn't let obstacles get in her way of finding the map.Riden - Irritating Alosa, even more, being so handsomely loitering around with girls to make her jealous as hell. Riden doesn’t return to the room until late, thinking she’s already asleep. He can tell she wants him to go to sleep, which makes him suspicious. She finally has to sing her siren song to make him obey. She learns what he wants in life is love and acceptance. Then she makes him forget it all happened. Alosa feels a burn in her chest and needs to be replenished. Only the ocean can do it. And then it always tries to get her to give in to it, which she can’t risk right now. She’s mostly human, but her mother was a siren. I had such a great time reading this!! 🤩🤩 it was a really enjoyable sequel and just as fast-paced and fun as the first one 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️💗💗 Seventeen-year-old Alosa, daughter of the feared Pirate King, is on a mission. She must retrieve an ancient hidden map, the key to a legendary treasure trove. The catch? Alosa needs to conceal her considerable combat skills and allow herself to be captured by her enemies, giving her the perfect opportunity to search their ship.

Her old enemies are now her captives and she feels successful having gathered the pieces of the map leading to the treasure of the Isla de CantaIt does mention rape, nudity, and prostitutes, but does not describe these things in detail. There is kissing, flirting, and some seduction in this book, but that is as far as the sexual content goes. The ending is pretty good, in terms of how it wraps up. There isn't a cliffhanger, but it is clear that the story must (should) continue. I think this is a two-book series, which sounds good to me! I love the duology trend in YA publishing these days. Unfortunately, we did not have a pirate at the helm (hehehe). We had Alosa. And therefore our roster of activities looked a lot more like this: complimenting self, gazing lustily, telling not showing, thinking about the abstract concept of coming up with a plan but deciding not to, cutting scenes right when they get interesting, complimenting self more, and more, and more. Her father was grabbed by the most beautiful of them all. Their queen. She, like the others, pulled him down to the ocean’s floor. I think the author gets the balance just right with Alosa. She's really tough and takes shit from nobody, but it's totally okay because she's also really funny. I laughed out loud several times because she's almost TOO good; she has to make it seem like she's a reluctant prisoner by attempting to escape, but she is so good at escaping that she must also stage her own capture again. Also, how many times have I thought this during sappy romance scenes:
