Raised by a family of mice, Robin the robin tries to prove to them that she can be a really good mouse, but ends up discovering who she really is, in the Christmas short film Robin Robin, made in 2021. This was Aardmanʼs first stop-motion film to use felt puppets rather than clay figures. In addition to the eight stamps, an exclusive miniature sheet, created specially for Royal Mail by Aardman, will also be available.

Eight stamps illustrate a selection of its most popular characters, while a miniature sheet of four showcases stories featuring their most famous duo, Wallace and Gromit.

Wallace and Gromit travel to the Moon in search of cheese in A Grand Day Out, a short film made in 1989.

Cheese-loving inventor Wallace may have endless optimism, but his faithful hound Gromit is the brains of the operation, coming to his masterʼs rescue whenever necessary. After becoming national icons in a series of short films, the duo found worldwide fame in the comedic horror feature film The Curse of the Were-Rabbit in 2005.

Aardman Classics

The miniature sheet stamps are 27 x 37 mm ( A Close Shave) 34 x 24 mm (remainder), all perforated 14. We have had the pleasure of creating these films featuring these much-loved characters over the last 40 years, so it is a real honour for the studio to receive this royal stamp of approval. It is the first in a series of planned videos to be released during 2022 that will allow customers sending stamped mail to choose which one the recipient can see when they receive an item of mail.

A selection of Royal Mail stamps, each with a beloved character created at Bristol's Aardman Animations have been unveiled today. The limited edition collection will go on sale next week, and includes a miniature sheet for collectors. Aardman was founded by Peter Lord and David Sproxton, who began their animation partnership while at school when they created a character called Aard-man, which the BBC bought for its Vision On series and marked the creation of Aardman Animations. Royal Mail has unveiled a selection of stamps celebrating beloved Aardman Animations characters including Wallace and Gromit, Morph and Shaun The Sheep. The Bristol -based animation studio was founded in 1972 and is best known for its films using stop-motion and clay modelling animation techniques.
