About this deal

When you'd had enough of the Avon solid scent sticks, Anais Anais felt like quite a step up into womanhood. Its aftershave-y top notes might not be to everyone’s taste, but – wait for it to warm up and let the spiky mint notes evaporate – what’s left behind is sublime and seriously addictive. This was popular in the 1980's though perhaps just with school children and older people (a wide deomgraphic! What Impulse 02 body spray was to kids of the Nineties, Festival Fragrances should be to the current generation – and adults will love it too. I found that the smell became quite overpowering in the shower and it lost it's sweet edge, which was probably my favourite part of the fragrance.

I am totally obsessed with it and love the smell, though it DOES vary batch to batch, as does the consistency.Ginger, cardamom and coffee notes dial up the heat, while the sandalwood heart provides a mellow backdrop. I did NOT like tramp when I first got it, so much that i sampled out most of it before the day i fell in love with it! Awake is like a double shot of espresso, embodying that comforting smell of your first cup of the morning on your way to work. I can understand how it wouldn't be some people's taste if they don't like patch or moss or the earthier greener smelling things, but personally I far FAR prefer TRAMP to all the super sweet scents that seem all pervasive Lush and the rest of the planet. It’s what’s known as a soliflore, and rather than a “pretty and delicate” rose, it has lush green accords to make you feel like you’re walking through rose gardens in Regent’s Park.

The juxtaposition between the fine powderiness and earthiness is very Lady and the Tramp – elegant but still up for frisking around in the back alley. With Los Angeles he wanted to capture the city’s “bubblegum breezy optimism”, and it certainly leaves that impression, with jazzy, sweet notes of mandarin, pineapple and tuberose. Warming up on the skin to a rich heart of iris, leather and papyrus, its tomboyish charm sticks around from dawn to dusk, before riding off into the sunset, in a soft haze of cedar and sandalwood. But Katie’s first love was music, and she moved to London in 1984 with dreams of becoming a pop star (“I just figured the world needed another Madonna,” she laughs).
