About this deal

This is the third annual food blogger celebration of all things chocolate, made possible thanks to our gold sponsor Imperial Sugar and the other sponsors listed below. I use semisweet or dark chocolate for my pretzel bark because personally I think it pairs best with the sweetness of the caramel. Also, these were delicious warm and gooey out of the oven but you really taste the caramel and individual flavors and and chewy texture the next day. When I first tasted the caramel by itself, I thought it tasted slightly bitter and burnt; however, when mixed into the batter and baked, the flavors were wonderful. I use Freedom Marshmallows in all my rocky road as they are vegetarian (they haven't paid me to recommend them, I'm just a fan!

This was the energy I was channeling as I folded a mosaic of salted butter caramels, crushed pretzels, and oversized chocolate chips into my usual blondies. I also noticed only at the end that my caramel is lighter in color than Deb’s in the photos, which is likely due to my timidness when making it.Mini Pretzels: Mini pretzels offer crunch and saltiness to the bark, contrasting the sweet caramel and chocolate layers. Add a few more pretzels on top, then bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out smeared with clear caramel and a few moist chocolate crumbs. If clumps of sugar remain, place back over medium heat for a couple minutes to melt them completely.

I am able to whip up a batch in 30 minutes and after I pop it in the fridge, it’s ready to eat in 2 hours.
