About this deal

This is a weird, sort of disjointed manga of short stories featuring different people in a city or town, that’s affected by a curse or an evil after an idol/totem was destroyed. We sat down with Nakayama to discuss his Eisner-nominated series' origins, the strange creatures within the pages, and how the slightest alterations can make for an unsettling monster. Nick and Nicky discuss their favorite horror series and compare notes on which anime monsters are perfect for the season.

Nakayama continues to release chapters of his other horror manga, Fuan no Tane, or Seeds of Anxiety. Ogushi appears represented in shadowy arms grabbing people, rooting them to the spot before taking them. It's a new set of spooky tales in the Mieruko-chan Anthology Comic, including works from Michiru Noroi, Yakan Nabeya, Aki Mizuki, and more! For a horror manga It felt like the really odd and unsettling stuff came towards the end but it felt right for the climax of the first volume. It was so bizarre and unsettling, the only thing that came out of my mouth after reading this was, "what in the f**k! the problem is, those horrors often turn out to have their own logic, which doesn't mesh with human understanding.

After the abrupt appearance of this strange new condition, Nakayama stopped publishing new chapters of PTSD Radio while continuing work on his other series.

The tiny, semihumanoid, multijointed things with a deformed facial opening that combines their eye sockets and a perpendicular mouth that try to crawl into people when they sleep or even dropping into and disguising themselves as their drink are a good start. Chilling, short vignettes that seem disjointed at first, but slowly a bigger picture starts to unfold to the reader. When they moved spaces, Nakayama developed an inexplicable hematoma around his mouth and was diagnosed with Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) right after he drew up a similar scene of someone throwing up blood and having demons spawn from it.
