About this deal

Ian Stuart Donaldson was born in 1957 in Blackpool into a rather well-off family since his father was a small business owner. This was a fitting tribute to the memory of Ian Stuart and a symbolic gesture of continuity and defiance towards those who would deny the opportunity to stage such an occasion and celebration of the man, his politics and his music. Positioned in the middle of the back seat, with Dickie on the right and Boo to his left, Cat had endured the accident more successfully than his friend. In another attempt to throw us off their scent, the ISD gig is being held a week earlier than normal and is being kept off Facebook and other social media sites in the hope that we do not remember it is happening.

For years the rally had been a target for the far right, whose sympathies in the Northern Ireland conflict mostly lay with the loyalists. When they arrived, the man went back inside, and a short time later a fire started that engulfed the home. Many victims had learned to fear the sight of his 6ft 2in frame, which was adorned with Nazi tattoos.

Singer Ian Stuart re-formed the band in 1982 as a clearly White Power neo-Nazi band, with an entirely new, and often revolving lineup. This enthusiastic gathering celebrated the life, music and politics of Ian Stuart and suitably marked the 30th anniversary of his tragic death. The next thing they knew the car had swung back across the road onto the grass verge spinning over and finally smashing into a ditch. Some members of the original Skrewdriver line-up objected strongly to the new direction in which Donaldson took the band.

When Skinheads hit the headlines in late Sixties, Ian knew his parents would not allow him to adopt this style he so wanted. Having been active in racial Nationalist politics throughout my entire adult life, I thought I would like to share a few of my memories of those early days in Leeds. Ian had moved the Skrewdriver concept up to Derbyshire which I agree whole-heartedly with because of all the hassle he was getting in London,” Shields said. In the aftermath of a violent march through racially mixed Lewisham in 1977, much of the UK's extreme right had concluded the path to power lay in controlling the streets and destabilising the multicultural society rather than through the ballot box.On the surface, the idea of a gay man embracing neo-Nazism might appear baffling and self-defeating. He painted the cover for the album “Hail the new dawn” in 1984 and died of AIDS in 1993 (the same year as Stuart). Things were going pretty well for Tumbling Dice, so a rough demo was cut and Ian set about forwarding the tapes to various record companies.

He escaped the furious crowd by using a female left-wing activist as a human shield, according to witnesses. The same year he met Charlie Sargent, an activist of the British Movement, who was also the co-founder of Combat 18 in 1992 (the number 18 means AH, the initials of Adolf Hitler) and who also puts him in touch with the Young National Front, the Youth of the NF. Born in Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire, Donaldson attended Baines School in nearby Poulton, where he met Sean McKay, Phil Walmsley, and John Grinton. The memory of Ian Stuart was marked in the customary fashion with all the due dignity and ritual associated with the ISD events of previous years. The new scene was made up mostly of ex-Skinheads who had out grown their crops and were listening to Northern Soul music.

Nicky Crane was also the central motif of the “Unclean” clip for Psychic TV (the second group of our performer Genesis P-Orridge) directed in 1984 by Cerith Wyn Evans. Crane later told a newspaper how "we rampaged down the Lane turning over stalls, kicking and punching Pakistanis". Skrewdriver were an English punk rock band formed by Ian Stuart Donaldson in Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire, in 1976.
