These options are standard, but what makes them stand above their Razer competition, is the use of a screw, not magnetic swap out mechanism. I’ve heard scattered reports that wear and tear on sticks is happening faster than you’d expect, but I haven’t noticed any problems myself yet.
I adjusted the right analog stick to be less sensitive with slight tilting, but more sensitive with deep tilting. Great battery life, reliable connectivity, durable build quality, trigger stops, grip buttons…the C40 does it all. The PlayStation 4 usually connects through Bluetooth, but Astro’s omitted that from the C40 in favor of a 2.

The Razer Raiju’s magnetic customisation system – which lets you change which caps you use just by pulling the old ones off and slotting the new ones in – is great for speed and convenience. Astro also includes force graphs for the triggers and sticks, and it’s here you can really dig into the C40 and make it your own. The same goes for the triggers: Those generally need less tweaking, but you can make sure you have a 100-percent pull at the trigger stops no matter what game you’re playing.To its credit, the C40 does more than the Xbox One Elite Controller and SCUF’s various offerings, but is it enough? That alone is incredibly useful, though you can also manually remap any inputs to the UL and UR buttons by holding down one of them and the remap button on the underside of the controller. For instance, you could make it so moving the stick even 20 percent of the way is equal to a full 100-percent tilt, or give yourself a larger dead zone for additional finesse.

The combination of a pseudo-dead zone in the middle of the stick followed by a wild swing as I tilted farther felt awkward, but I could feel that the ability to craft that sort of behavior could be very valuable to a skilled player. I’m hoping someone can confirm that the C40 shows up natively as a PS4 controller in Steam so that the gyro and touchpad are recognized and functional. On more than a few occasions, it would simply start and say no controller was connected, even when the C40 was connected to a USB 2.
