About this deal

With our 4B pencil, we’re now going to add the nostrils to our drawing. Remember that the nostril shape changes according to the type of nose we’re drawing and that some people have bigger nostrils than others. Now, here’s where learning how to draw a nose can get a little more challenging. Firstly, you’ll need to make sure you leave a space between the nostril and the flare of the nostril like in the illustration above. Now we’re going to add the three circles that represent the wings of the nose and the tip. As in the previous step, you can draw the non-visible parts of the circles with dashed lines. Erase our guidelines so they’re barely visible, and after that, with our 4B pencil, we are going to shade the base of our two circles. This will be the darkest area of our nose. Step 8: at the bottom, trace the middle guide and draw a curved line right in between the space where the small circles meet the bigger one.

Snub nose: A snub nose is short and slightly upturned, with a rounded tip. To draw this type of nose, start with a small triangle shape for the tip, then add a curved line to connect it to the face. Use shading to create a smooth transition from the nose to the face.

Using a softer pencil such as a 2B, draw a curve at the top of the 3D shape to define the nose bridge and beginning of the brow bone. For a strong brow, exaggerate this curve more.

Then, with the special glasses and the "Pencil Nose" equipped, try to draw the object onto the clear screen of the board - USING ONLY YOUR NOSE! Step 6: add another smaller circle overlapping to the left of the first. It will be the edges of the nostrils. Using our 4B pencil, we are going to shade the base of the circles; remember to only shade the visible part. Step 14: mirroring the line added in step 13, draw a second curved line for the bridge of the nose. Continue using your soft pencil as you begin sketching the nostrils on the vertical line. Both the left and the right nostril must be aligned. Use the vertical line as a boundary for your nose sketch. As you can see from your source or reference image, the left nostril is somewhat hidden, yet the nostrils remain in alignment with one another.

To start, sketch the basic shape of the nose – just a few lines for nose tip, nose bridge, and the right and left nostril. Identify the light source’s direction as this will determine the tonal variation of your realistic nose drawing.
