Unlike most 3D printers made in China, the Artillery Sidewinder X1 relies on inductive end stops. Only TEVO regularly uses inductive end stops. Inductive end stops – instead of mechanical limit switches, as is so often the case. (Plug connection not so elegantly solved) Unfortunately, there is no power cable strain relief installed, so this is one of the first prints i did. Mwww has a great design available on Thingiverse. Please make sure you print this upgrade because without proper strain relief on the heatbed cable, issues may occur and considering there’s mains voltage in those cables this can be a death hazard. The Sidewinder X1 offers a lot of great features, a large build space - and all of this at a very competitive price. As a result, the printer has become one of the most popular 3D printers on the market.

The main reason why you would want to install Klipper on Sidewinder X1 is to print faster. The Sidewinder X1 uses a MKS GEN L board which has an 8-bit CPU. This can be a limiting factor when printing fast, especially on round models.

It’s recommended to perform a PID tune to make sure the temperatures are stable. You can follow PID Tuning Guide to do this. The Z axis assembly consists of 40×20 aluminium extrusions. It has dual motors with dual lead screws lifting the X axis.The Sidewinder X1 has two Z steppers. Therefore, the X-axis does not “sag” or “hang” at an angle from a certain height. A toothed belt “synchronizes” both Z-axes. If you were hoping for a simple “yes” or “no”, I have to disappoint you. The Artillery Sidewinder X1 is really good, does a hell of a lot right. However, it’s not perfect. You only notice this in most places after prolonged intensive use. As the successor to the world-renowned Sidewinder X1, the Sidewinder X2 from Artillery is characterised by new features and smart developments. The heating bed gets hot in just under 30 seconds. The well-insulated printing surface is heated to 60 degrees thanks to the 220V power supply. According to the manufacturer, the printbed can get to 110°C in 130 seconds. Thanks to the insulation attached below, the temperature, according to Octoprint, is also kept relatively constant. Before your first print it’s important to also set your offset again. For ABL users this is easy. You can follow 3DMN’s video. If you still use manual bed leveling you will need to carefully re-position the Z endstop so the nozzle stops just above the bed. The distance between the nozzle and the bed should be about 0.1 mm, so you can use a piece of paper for this.

ThenI could not find any uneven spots in my bed, making the leveling a walk in the park with the large leveling knobs present under it. The mainboard is a MKS Gen L running TMC2100 motor drivers. I don’t think the drivers are genuine, but I can’t say I had any issues with them. No overheating and no lost steps. 2. Heatbed
