About this deal

Wonderful review Lynne. Lisa Jewell is an autoread for me as well. I love how she develops her characters and makes you connect with them in various ways. I am looking forward to her upcoming release, The Family Upstairs. Joey Mullen and her husband Alfie, have just moved in with her brother so they can get their lives sorted. Joey is going through a bit of a crisis in her marriage, when she meets Tom and is suddenly and unexpectedly obsessed with him. Timing is everything, if it hadn't been him, maybe it would have been someone else? I was captivated into the story straight from the beginning and had a hard time putting it down. This was a very addicting thriller. Something happens and there is a murder and after that I had to find out what was going to happen next. You can tell right in the beginning that everyone has secrets. There are creepy unlikable characters, which I mentioned aren't who they seem to be at the end. Lisa Jewell includes a number of red herrings that lead the reader to one suspicion and then another. What were some of the red herrings you noticed in the book? Did you fall for them? The teenagers are the stars in this novel. Freddie and Jenna were my favourite characters. Freddie, with his first crush (with which his brilliance cannot help him) and Jenna with her struggles to maintain a normal life living with her paranoid mother. I even became fond of Joey, despite her poor life choices.

And what about Freddie, Mr. Fitzwilliam’s teenage son—is it possible he’s guilty of more than just watching all of his neighbors and chronicling their every move? Absolutely recommend to anyone who enjoys an addictive dark twisted story with fantastically developed characters and a mystery that will keep you guessing! Poppy, Floyd’s youngest daughter, however has striking similarities to Ellie, which only leaves Laurel with more questions than answers. Tom Fitzwilliam– a ‘super’ head teacher who has made a reputation for himself turning around schools who have fallen below expectations. Charismatic, Tom is in his early fifties and is married with one son, Freddie. Tom is watching Freddie.

Book Club Questions for Watching You

Welcome to Melville Heights - an idyllic, family based, wealthy neighborhood that is the kind of place everyone wishes they could live. Except for the fact that nothing is as it seems. Behind the picturesque closed doors of these painted beauty houses lies dark, ugly and sinister secrets. The kind of secrets that inevitably make it to the light of day through MURDER!

You have to admire this author who can create a myriad of characters, keep them all distinct, and create a convoluted scenario that works magnificently. Just who is Tom Fitzwilliam? Does anyone really know?To the outside world he is a handsome, popular, successful man, but is he really all that?Strange things always happen in the neighborhoods where Tom lives, and Melville Heights is no exception. There is spying in the neighborhood by his son, there are women in love with Tom, and there is a neighbor, Mrs. Tripp, who thinks Tom is the cause of numerous strange things happening to her and has remembered something about Tom that happened a few years ago. Could Mrs. Tripp be right about Tom and everyone else wrong thinking he is perfect? She doesn't give up.Tom’s son, Freddie, is definitely odd and frightening. There are other characters that play some major roles such as Joey who is a suspect in a murder investigation that occurred in the neighborhood and who has a crush on Tom Fitzwilliam. WATCHING YOU is definitely a study in human nature with nosy neighbors being the focus. It seemed that everyone was spying on someone with Freddie being the major one.As the book continues, the mystery about who Tom really is and who the murdered person is at the beginning of the book are slowly revealed.WATCHING YOU has a lot of unlikable and odd characters, but that is what made it good and typical Lisa Jewell. I was asking myself just who is anyone in this twisty, strange, but excellent thriller that had me wondering about all of the characters and what was happening. If you enjoy Lisa Jewell’s books, you won’t want to miss reading WATCHING YOU. The ending revelations are GREAT!! 4/5This book was given to me as an ARC by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
