About this deal

Admittedly it does sound a little flat production-wise in the same way that other Live recordings do. What: Collection of photographs by Paul Slattery, who followed Oasis on the road between 1994 and 1995. I'm sort of hoping it is the start of pulling out a lot more Oasis stuff from the archives, a proper reissue of Standing on the Shoulders and Heathen Chemistry, maybe a proper reissue on Blur Ray of Familiar to Millions... ooh and that on Vinyl as well.

Why you need it: A copy of this cassette was given to Creation Records boss Alan McGee following a gig in Glasgow. After one play, he signed the band immediately. History, right here. Why you need it: If you’re going to own just one piece of Oasis clothing, it’s this one here. Iconic. Didn't Jonny Marr play lead guitar on champagne supernova at Knebworth? On a dark red Les Paul? Or am I getting this mixed up with another big gig? I know it's an important cultural moment but everything of the Knebworth shows I've heard suggests they were far from their best gigs.Base theme by DesignModo& ported to Powered by Vanilla by Chris Ireland, modified by the "theFB" team. Pre-internet, end-of-history nostalgia reaches a psychedelic peak in this enjoyable documentary about Oasis’s pair of 1996 gigs at Knebworth House in Hertfordshire.

I used to have a bootleg dvd of that and I would play along on the guitar note for note. Managed to get the whole thing playing through my surround sound…. Fun times. Then life happened Liam and Noel Gallagher are executive producing a new feature documentary about the Knebworth concerts their band Oasis played in August 1996. Why you need it: It’s just as ballsy as the final version, but has a rawer, amateurish feel to it that we’re totally digging.Exclusive editions of key new releases as well as selectively chosen classics and archival releases Why you need it: Noel’s mixed a new version of ‘D’you Know What I Mean?’, hinting at what could have been if they’d shown a little restraint. This may be due to the excessive strain that the plastic envelope exerts on the trifold cover and hence on the records; in fact, record n. 3, which is sandwiched between record n. 1 and n. 2, is perfectly flat. Why you need it: It’s the Gallagher brothers doing what they do best: fighting. It also features references to that ferry incident in the early days, which Liam recently compared Noel’s response to Kevin Keegan.

Tbh, after hearing the Earl’s Court and Maine Road stuff I thought Knebworth sounded pants. Still great of course but it sounds like a lot of cocaine was consumed by everyone. I love John Squire too but even his input was too drugged up for me. What: A comprehensive boxset featuring CDs, LP, DVD and more from the ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ sessions. They played two nights in Cork, Ireland on August 13 and 14 but I can’t remember which night I attended, the 13 I’d bet on!What: The overlong yet underrated 1997 album is being reissued with B-sides and previously unheard demos. When Noel tells the audience at the outset of the second night that history is being made, it’s understandable – this was a major cultural event, and it must have been thrilling to feel part of something that felt bigger than itself. Arguably he, and subsequently this film, have freighted the event with greater meaning than it required: the joy of live music is in immediate, fleeting sensation, which doesn’t need to get caught on the hide of history. But that sensation is something Carruthers captured brilliantly in 1996. Why you need it: A few months later they’d play their era-defining shows at Knebworth, but these gigs are the biggest (and best) Oasis shows available on home release. This year marks 25 years since Oasis’ two iconic record breaking live concerts at Knebworth Park in Hertfordshire on the 10th and 11th August 1996. The shows were both the pinnacle of the band’s success and a landmark gathering for a generation of young people.
