About this deal

So essentially, both sets feature a warm bassy tonality with an analoguish feel, but the KBEAR KS1 is much easier to fit OOTB without the need to spend on aftermarket mods. KS1 is a v-shaped iem and hence the mids are recessed and sounded thin. E500 owns this part where it sounds balanced in the mix without being recessed. Meanwhile, Tanya has a slightly less forward mids but is covered up by lower treble, which overall sounds a bit upper mids and lower treble emphasized.

MEDIUM FREQ: Definitely the best part of this headset. Although set to a V EQ, the mids feel good, have excellent control and bring out the voices so much to let the best songs of Lana del Rey sneak deep in your chest. Excellent response to the equalizer in the mids which can also be raised to distortion level. Sound - It has a v-shape sound signature. But to be honest a very mild v-shape which I personally prefer. In fact, they sound flatter than many KZ IEMs I have tried. The treble is slightly bumped up, but not harsh at all. They manage to sound pretty smooth at the high end. You would get clear vocals and the sparkles at the top which makes it fun to listen to. The mids are recessed, but very much present. As with many KZs, I wish there more lower mids to sound fuller. Lastly, the upper bass has a slight bump, making it fun to groove with the music. It could do with a bit more sub bass but the mid bass makes up for it. Now an ultra affordable newcomer appear from no where, and no, it isn’t a follow up of the acclaimed ”house sound” incarnate by Diamond and KB04 crisp tonality. It’s call KS2 and score a 10mm ”biological” dynamic driver plus a ”custom” balanced armature. Having on dynamic driver (10mm) and one balanced armature along with 16Ohm impedance and 106dB sensitivity makes the KS2 easier to drive than some of its rivals. I can confer with those findings as the KS2 does seem easy to drive. Since this is designed to be used as a Smartphone replacement headphone, that only makes sense. And it works out that way. It isn't heavily sub-bass focused for a dramatic (theatrical) thunderous rumble but the vast amount of warmth here is a guilty pleasure to me. Let's put aside these technical terms on being one-note or being boomy aside. I have a soft spot for these ear buds not only because of the price, but also because the KS1's bass tuning is absolutely perfect for listening to lofi livestreams on youtube. The KS1's sound signature remains easy on the ears with bass that is pure ear massage.Treble head like me loves me some good high and it does not disappoint me and has some good energy/sounds lively. It has good amount of details and clarity but on certain instrument like guitars and horn instruments are not what I'm used to . The timbre or tone of these especially in the lower treble comes with shrillness and the instrument sounds bit sharp or thin especially guitar. DISCLAIMER: It seems lot of KBear planes drop KS2 review samples cargo from the sky around the globe, and one inadvertently falls in my mailbox. Did'nt ask for it. It was there. And it wasn't a second pair of KB04, which I would have been proud to give to an audiophile friend, unlike the KS2. KBEAR 16 core silver cable with metal 2pin/MMCX/QDC Connector Use For KZ ZS10 PRO ZSN PRO AS16 ZSN AS10 The KZ ZST X has the same dual-driver configuration as the KS2 and the shells are very similar physically as well. Both have similar bass quantity but the bass on the KS2 is delineated more clearly. ZST X vocals are a little more forward in the mix but KS2 has better cohesiveness and less grain. ZST X has a bit more upper treble energy and a tendency to get splashy at higher volume. No monetary compensation is/was involved before, during, and after the period of creation of this review.

While there is some warmth inherited from the bass, the KS2’s mids still come through clearly and vocals are nicely articulated, even if they sometimes come across as a bit thin. The mids are slightly recessed, as you would expect with a V-shaped sound but they don’t sound hollow or distant. Treble The included cable is ok. It’s a good step up with what’s included with the Blon BL-03. In that it doesn’t tangle up as easily and has a more comfortable fit around the ear. It is a good cable for free and the right angle 3.5mm connector is awesome for portable gaming. The KS1's treble was fairly well-tuned. Detail retrieval was reasonable and there was a minor roll off in the high frequencies, but nonetheless, the overall effect was smooth and easy to listen to with no disturbing peaks. However, I found myself wishing for a little more detail and sparkle. I would like to thank Ms. Mei Liu and KB Ear for sending a review unit of the KS1. Rest assured that my impressions written in this review are my own personal thoughts/opinions and in no way influenced by outside parties.

Disclaimer : This unit was sent to me by KB EAR. However, this does not affect my review of the product in any way whatsoever.

The KBEAR KS1 shell is made of plastic. I got the white version, which really looks like some Stormtrooper armour. It is very light and comfortable and well fitting. No complaints from me on this aspect. Soundstage: Soundstage height is larger than the typical budget IEM which is quite curious and definitely aids while watching movies and such. Soundstage width is moderate but stage depth is pretty poor. I highly recommend this pair to those starting out. It is a great pair to see where your preferences lie. For less than the price of most cables on the market you can get a taste of a great Soundstage. The mid-bass and sub-bass are fairly linear which ultimately puts the emphasis on the sub-bass. You can get a nice rumble out of these on certain songs, like in Rhythm & Sound’s “No Partial”, where the KS2 delivers some thunderous bass. The KS2 are fun, vivid, well-balanced and sound very natural to me, as well as energetic when things get bassy. I went as far as comparing these earphones with the renown TRN V90, despite the comparison being quite unfair, given the evident price difference, and this only goes to show you how far KBEAR has gone in such a [relatively] short period of its existance.

KBEAR KS2 COUPON

Another good example is Yonezu Kenshi's "Flamingo", bass is fast and snappy with a good amount of impact or slam when needed, and coupled with natural vocals, it reproduces this song well.
