About this deal

Just having the ingest process finished before ever getting home from the session alleviates a waiting period in the process, which I absolutely love. Bobthearch: that of course is true, but open source software could be developed further and placed in the AppStore or Google Playstore! I didn’t notice until after it loaded, and then when I tried to fix it, it uploaded not only the missed files, but also the ones that had originally been uploaded.

I’ve only ever been close to draining the battery once, and it was after having used the GNARBOX for multiple days in Iceland without charging. Therein lies the major issue. Without the app, while somewhat functional, the device fails to offer its promised features. Companies go out of business and products lose customer support, but not all products lose core functionality when the manufacturer vanishes. One of the most important features of Gnarbox, is the ability to edit video footage all the way to 4K. Having recently traveled to New Zealand, I was able to capture a bunch of footage of different places using the DJI Mavic Air drone, so I thought it would be a good idea to see what I could get out of the Gnarbox when doing editing of 4K footage. I shoot stills and video with Sony A9 and even with Macbook 13" 2019, UBS-C Prograde Reader and Sony SFG 300mb/s cards(average read speed is about 220-270mb/s) it can take quite some time to offload the stills and 4k content from two cards. 75mb/s reader on the Gnarbox is probably more like 40-50mb/s in actual performance.Having the peace of mind that you can swap out batteries is super handy, especially for those that might be out on extended adventures. When not in the field, users can connect the LamboGo directly to a computer with transfer speeds the company claims can reach up to 2,400 MB/s. It’s not clear if the connection is standard USB-C or if it’s Thunderbolt, as LamboTech does not specify, though one of the items that the company offers as a bundle is a Thunderbolt cable.

allow your phone/tablet to slow upload at the minimum the JPEG's to the cloud(Depending on your data plan, you may not want RAW files). The LAMBOGO drive has built-in WiFi with speeds of up to 900 MB/s. Users can review shots over their phone, and share that connection with multiple devices. If you’re a traveling photographer and want the best product to keep your processes flowing with no down time, look no further than the GNARBOX. I really liked the concept of the Gnarbox, but the price was simply outrageous. With SSD prices coming down fast, almost half a grand for non-replacable 256 GB seemed way too much even on the release date. Now, all this sounds great, but you might be wondering how it feels in use. I’ll admit, there are a few things that still need to be ironed out, but for the most part, this device absolutely sings.

How to Update to the New Software

Keeping all of this in mind, they’ve created quite an efficient system that keeps overheating risks to a minimum.

One of the biggest pains I have encountered with the Gnarbox apps is the slow performance of rendering videos. Even a simple 150 MB 4K video took a while to render. After it was done, I wanted to see it in higher resolution, but I could not – there was no way to zoom into the video. Turning the app sideways didn’t do anything either, which was rather frustrating. This shows that the Gnarbox team still has quite a bit of polishing to do with the apps, which will take some time to deliver. Conclusion I bought the GB2 soon after launch. It has been a vital part of my workflow for stills and video ever since. The company have supported it very well with excellent firmware updates that substantially improved its functionality On that note though, the company does say that the LamboGo is compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android. Utilizing an SSD drive alleviates the risk presented by spinning drives, giving it more durability as it bangs around in a bag.

Check out the 2.7.0 Release Video!

Seems to be a remarkable number of comments here by people who don’t understand the product, or just have no need for it’s capability. Not great reasons to can such a fantastic bit of kit The problem is that it's *not* vaporware. The product exists and worked well, but many features rely on software which has been pulled for whatever reason. Selects + Safekeep = GNARBOX App: The update is worth it for this feature alone. The fact that it’s named GNARBOX and has the GNARBOX logo makes it even easier to find rather than “Selects” or “Safekeep.” This also eliminates any chance of accidentally opening the wrong one. The app seems to run smoother as well, and we haven’t had any issues with lagging or freezing, which would happen on occasion in the past (rarely). This release adds support for the DJI CineSSD reader for the Inspire 2 drone.” Support for Sony MRW-G1 XQD/CFexpress reader

This whole thing shows, it doesn't matter how smart an idea is, the success of it depends on your people-skiils, and gnarbox had none of it. A bunch of deaf self-centered fresh graduates Gnarbox has also announced two new features the Gnarbox 2.0 SSD supports. First, MyGnar has partnered with Camera Bits, Inc. to power its Gnarbox Selects App using Photo Mechanic’s image processing technology, Raw file support and metadata tagging tools. Additionally, the Gnarbox 2.0 SSD can now be connected to iPad Pro devices via USB-C if you prefer a tethered connection. That wasn’t because the food service was slow, but because the GNARBOX makes the entire process so seamlessly effective.I think an app might be the way to go. Phones and cameras are starting to appear with USB 3.0 (I should say reappear, but with the Type-C port) so an app that copies over images and catalogs them properly would be the solution going forward.
