This interactive activity challenges you to create your own Gourmet Burger using beef or lamb mince and a variety of vegetables, fruit, cheese, spices and herbs. The activity goes through the stages of ingredient selection, mixing, dividing and shaping, cooking and assembly. A detailed personalised step-by-step recipe is produced so that you can make and cook your own beef or lamb burger in the classroom or at home.
Identify how and which types of foods are essential for health and wellbeing, and play an important role in treating/preventing disease. A range of interactive activities including memory and matching games, fill in the gap, cooking videos with questions to answer, and activities with 'hot-spots' which provide jumping off points with further information.

The future of food is exciting, so we’ll explore how food may be used as medicine in the future, and the potential role food will play in your health and wellbeing. IANE Membership Describe what is meant by the term ‘food as medicine’ and list a number of examples of how foods have been used as medicine in the past. Explore food has been designed to be easy to use, guiding pupils through the analysis of a recipe or a day’s diet. It provides data for the pupil to analyse and draw conclusions away from their PC or tablet, further supporting their studies. You could improve your career prospects by getting Registered Scientist (RSci) or Chartered Scientist (CSci) status through the Institute of Food Science and Technology.
