About this deal

I’ve never been a huge fan of the SoundMagic E10 design. The coloured L/R earpiece parts; the “go faster” style stripes – they’re just not to my taste. Ergonomically designed sound tubes sit perfectly in the ear canal and stay in the ear comfortably without falling out. The in-ear design combined with the right eartips seals music in and leaves unwanted noise out. There are a few niggles, though. These are still very much big bass earphones, and as such they can sound quite bulky. Hifiheadphones. All rights reserved. Hifieadphones is a trading name of K&S Technology Limited, a company registered in England and Wales. The most important part of the SoundMagic E10C hardware is the remote. It looks a familiar cylinder of aluminium, with the usual three buttons. However, it’s the first remote of its type I’ve used to offer full cross-platform support, working with iPhones and Android phones alike.

SoundMagic E10C review | What Hi-Fi?

The SoundMagic E10C are affordable earphones, the sort you might buy as an upgrade from the pair included with your phone. Another great pair of SoundMagic budget earphones, the E11C in-ears continue the fine work of their predecessors and deliver an entertaining, upfront sound, complete with a remote control and mic. And we can’t argue with that. For five years, Soundmagic’s E10s in some form or another have been our go-to budget headphones, and although sound quality hasn’t taken a leap forward this time, it’s still remarkable that Soundmagic finds ways to implement improvements without bumping up the price. One of the reasons headphones and earphones in India are more expensive than overseas is because of the Goods & Services Tax in India.

If they only sounded as good as the SoundMagic E10, they wouldn’t stand a chance. Solid pairs from Skullcandy and House of Marley offer similar grade sound and wireless at the same price. However, by upgrading the sound significantly, the E11C have become earphones we’ll recommend just as happily as we did the E10 years ago. Verdict The product is returned in original condition (with brand’s/manufacturer's box, MRP tag intact, user Never-ending innovation coming from SoundMAGIC with an update of the acclaimed E10 earphones with the upgraded E10C. While retaining the superb sound qualities of the predecessor, the E10C has been equipped with a 3-button remote with automatic switching between Apple and Android smartphones for interchanging devices with ease. The SoundMagic E80Cs don’t quite reach the same heights as the budget E10Cs, and would be hard-pressed to beat the formidable Sennheiser M2s at this price.

The separation and image are also pretty good, and the soundstage, although not huge is more than adequate. Our favourite budget headphones get a new universal remote and they sound as good as ever..." 'What Hi-Fi? award winner 2016'. 5-star review.I can really recommend the Soundmagic E10 if one's looking for a natural, dynamic, non-fatiguing sound signature. They provide honest, effortless reproduction of audio material. The E10 are definitely worth their money, and then some."

I later plugged the E11C to my Macbook and it actually sounds great out of it, with more body/ texture in the mids compared to phones and a more dynamic performance. There is also more air andan improved soundstage as there seems to be less roll-off on the treble. Their formula is simple. The SoundMagic E10C have an extremely populist tone. They pile on some extra bass to achieve a full, rich sound, but also offer a wide soundstage and decent treble detail. You get big fun bass, but also enough high-end flavour to conclude, within two bars of music, that these earphones are easily worth their money. Like the E11Cs, the E80Cs are also now fully compatible with all smartphones (the C stands for ‘Compatibility’). Previous incarnations of the range (such as the E10S/ E50S) had a bulky switch that you toggled depending on whether you were using the in-line controls with an Android or Apple smartphone. But now the three-button remote does all the switching automatically, making them much less fussy to use. They are no minor tweak. The SoundMagic E11C may look familiar, but the sound is radically different to the E10’s. Some of the relaxed smoothness has gone, but much better dynamics and mid-range definition make these earphones a clear league ahead of their predecessors. The alterations to the sound are much less marked than the new remote’s changes, but that’s no bad thing. SoundMagic’s various generations of E10 have earned a massive following thanks to their great sound and sensible price.

SoundMagic might have got rid of the red cable from its headphones, but otherwise the E11Cs look identical to their forebears, with a typical cylindrical, aluminium casing design and a choice of small, medium and large silicone tips, which are also now silver. There’s a storage case, too, which is handy for avoiding cable spaghetti when stashing them in a bag. The E11Cs have a familiar sound – SoundMagic's sonic signature remains firmly intact on this cheaper pair of headphones. The sound is well-balanced, entertaining and energetic, with a decent level of depth and warmth. Audio clarity is amazing and one can easily differentiate between the various instruments. At higher volumes sibilance is not observed which is a big strong point for E11C. SoundMagic’s E10 are easy-going earphones with solid bass and treble, but no particular lean on either side that could put off some ears. They are earphones for everyone, and so are the E11C. Now, what about the sound? Here SoundMAGIC had a difficult task; E10C was (already) so good, and one would naturally wonder how much improvement could take, while retaining about the same price tag. Of course, nowadays, good quality drivers and precise tuningcan give amazing results.
