About this deal

On an Oly body the aperture ring don't even work, and the 20mm may randomly produce banding at high ISO, so there's that. I could really go with either focal length. If autofocus weren't any concern at all, I'd probably go with the 20mm as a preferred focal length and because it's a true pancake. The review I linked has me leaning more toward the 15mm, though. I have a GM1 paired with 14/2.5. Perfect street setup. Love the 14/2.5 warmer colors - nice for low-light/indoors group photos.

The image quality produced is acceptable. Itsa sharp in the center and produces little vignetting, distortion or chromatic aberrations. Contrast and color are also very crisp and vivid. It is possible to assign [HDMI RAW data output] function to the Fn button and users can directly turned it ON or OFF from the camera. It's very fast to focus, renders very nicely and the clutch-focus mechanism is useful for manual focus. It's been discussed ad nauseam, so you can probably use the search tool and find plenty of opposing viewpoints if you're in a hurry (not that I'm whining about another thread on the subject, or I wouldn't be commenting).

Power Save Mode] can be selectable while the camera is powered with an AC adaptor(DMW-AC10, sold separately). The GH5 II is a hybrid mirrorless camera that meets the needs of all creators, featuring wireless live streaming capability and C4K 60p/50p 10-bit video recording. With this firmware update, wired streaming performance is enhanced to realize high quality video streaming. It complies with RTP/RTSP streaming via wired LAN and via USB tethering to support maximum 4K high resolution livestreaming for both indoor and outdoor use. Based on the review and some opinions I've read, the 20mm f/1.7 is a bit slower to focus, although the significance is subjective and may depend on whether it's used on an Olympus or Panasonic body (and as of now I haven't decided on what the accompanying body will be, so that's still open). The review mentioned noise, which is more of a concern to me, as that could ruin its ability for video. Image quality seems to be a bit of a toss-up between the two, although on these forums it seems like the 15mm garners more praise. The 20mm is smaller, but the 15mm doesn't appear significantly longer... Greetings! I have a question about some older gear. I'm very happy with my current lenses, but now am looking to go for a smaller body and lens combo. To that end, I'm looking for a pancake, or pancake-like. The two major contenders are the 15mm f/1.7 and 20mm f/1.7. For settings and controls over the BGH1 via PC during IP streaming, LUMIX Tether for Multicam PC software should also be updated to Ver.1.1 or higher.Only for video the AF has led me down sometimes, so I prefer manual focusing with this lens when doing video. It is possible to start/stop recording on the external device with the BGH1 during HDMI/SDI output.

And use both. The difference is I half press with the 20. It's at most a half second. I got great shots at our family Christmas dinner with it. Works fine at 1.7 and great at 2.0. Color and sharpness for both lenses are excellent. The difference in focal length is sufficient for me to justify both. The 20mm lens has been reported to suffer from banding on some Oly bodies, for reasons I haven't seen explained satisfactorily, so I've avoided it as I have both Oly and Pany bodies. Working together with ATOMOS, a global company that creates innovativetechnologies and cloud services forfilmmakers everywhere, the new firmware enables the output of up to 5.8K / 29.97p and C4K / 119.88p RAW video data over HDMI to be recorded as Apple ProRes RAW on ATOMOS NINJA V and NINJA V+devices. They're cheaper than PL 15/1.7 but also work well as hybrid Still/Video lens as well. 20/1.7 is good STILL photo lens, but not a hybrid video lens. You're satisfaction with 20/1.7 highly depends on how much video you shoot. In term of AF speed, all other 4 lens focus faster than 20/1.7. 20/1.7 is one of the oldest M43 lens and AF motor hasn't been improved. When [HDMI Recording Control] and/or [SDI Recording Control] is/are ON, Rec button is available even if the SD Card is not inserted. The connection method, either HDMI or SDI, is also displayed. It can detect the eyes / face at a 2x faster recognition cycle speed and human / animal at a 5x faster recognition cycle speed. These subjects can be detected even they appear in approximately half the size. *Comparison between before and after updating the firmware. With this update, it is possible to load low compression and high quality data directly to the PC without transcoding for smooth NLE(non-linear editing) Through the firmware updates, Panasonic proposes future-ready solutions for more flexible filmmaking workflow using mirrorless cameras. I prefer the FOV of the 20mm over the 25mm for the so-called "normal" focal length, but own both a P20 and an O25. They are both sharp, but the O25 renders colors more pleasing to my eye.

I've never had any problems with slow focussing, but I never rely on fast autofocus. I was thinking of shooting some video and was going to avoid the 20, even though it might otherwise be ideal, because of the focus noise. You can hear it focus.Based on the review and some opinions I've read, the 20mm f/1.7 is a bit slower to focus, although the significance is subjective Comprised of seven lenses in five groups, the new system uses two aspherical lenses to minimize both distortion and chromatic aberration, achieving incredibly high resolution corner to corner. The versatile 20mm focal distance (equivalent to 40mm on a 35 mm film camera) is suitable for wide variety of photography including scenery such as sunsets and dimly lit indoor shots taking advantage of its beautiful soft focus. It supports the Contrast AF system for high precision auto focusing.
