What better way to start a list of dark Christmas films than with this all-time holiday classic? Though it is true that this film has the warm and fuzzy, touchy-feely ending most movies of its breed do, let's not forget that the main plot of the film begins with George Bailey on the edge of a bridge contemplating suicide. They know from my demeanour what I’m gonna tell them. I tell them and they dissolve in tears, “no it can’t be true” they say, like they always do. “I’m so sorry, there was nothing we could do, he didn’t suffer”. I look at my watch, 8.55pm.
