About this deal

While there may be covered areas at some rest stops which will shelter you from the rain, we’re sure you’ll agree that sitting outside trying to cook in a storm is pretty miserable. Having a portable cooker in your vehicle means you won’t be at the mercy of the weather when it comes to dinner time. What To Consider When Choosing Your Portable Cooker If, like most caravanners, you don't have the luxury of an external gas point and the convenience of having an outdoor appliance, then LPG ovens are your best option when it comes to enjoying home-cooked meals when you're away from home. Here's what you need to know about LPG cookers and finding the right one:

You do need to watch the wattage. They may be advertised as 800W, for example, but may have an operating power requirement of 1500W or more. Have a look at the section at the end for more on power requirements. Don’t fill it to the top and expect it to cook it all – half full of liquid is the most we’ve had from it These convenient appliances allow you to enjoy delicious hot meals wherever you may be so you don’t need to waste money at rest stops on unhealthy fast food. Portable cookers are very simple to use. All you need to do is place your ingredients inside and switch them on. Pre-prepared meals and leftovers can be reheated in minutes, or you can cook a fresh meal from scratch in a few hours. It seems very unfair to me to cut down the score you give an item because you didn’t know how to use it properly when you first tried it.From stews in 15 minutes to perfect rice and even cakes and yoghurt.Basically, it’s a clever electric pressure cooker that also slow cooks and steams. The usual home-sized Instant Pot is big but not heavy. Freestanding or built-in LPG cookers are generally suitable for static caravans with 230V ignition. But there are various models of LPG ovens with a 12V supply as well, and they are perfect for motorhomes, mobile homes, and boats. Our LPG ovens and cookers also come in a selection of sizes suitable for different models of caravan. Induction hobs use a flat ceramic or glass plate with an electromagnetic coil underneath. The surface itself doesn’t get hot, but the bottom of any iron or stainless steel pan placed on it does heat up.

If you enjoy cooking when you're away from home, then a decent oven can make all the difference. Our selection of built-in and free-standing LPG cookers includes models that are ideal for static caravans, mobile homes, boats, and motorhomes alike. They come complete with basic features, such as oven, grill, and hobs. The type of meals you can cook in your portable cooker will depend upon the maximum temperature your model can achieve and how long you are traveling for. Most portable cookers are suitable for cooking meats, vegetables, burgers, rice, stews and soups. Toasted sandwiches, pizza, hot dogs, fries, leftovers, as well as any convenience foods you buy while out on the road can all be easily reheated. They’re probably too bulky for many campervans and smaller motorhomes, though there are some more compact models around. If you’re a camper or campervanner who usually opts for a pitch with electricity, you can make the most of your hook-up with a portable electric stove – from Remoska to induction hobs and even a portable microwave. Yes, you can continue to return items as normal as long as you follow the government guidelines about leaving your house.

Update – The motorhome slow cooker never really worked out for us. When we bought our new motorhome it came with a Remoska which is great for when we have hook-up (it’s like a little portable oven) and we also bought a double skillet for day to day cooking on the hob. We have also met folks who swear by slow and thermal cooking in their motorhomes using products like Mr D’s Thermal Cooker or Wonderbag, the non-electric slow cooker.

There are alternatives to the Remoska from the likes of Quest. These are often called electric skillets. If you miss the flavor of a nutritious slow-cooked dinner when you’re away from home, this Slow Cooker from RoadPro could be the answer. Simply plug it into your 12V outlet and you can cook up your favorite slow cooked dishes while on the road. Our collections by our couriers are happening as usual. As it stands, delivery times are not being affected too much. Please be aware though that Royal Mail and other couriers are sometimes prioritising essential items so please bear with us if your delivery takes slightly longer than expected. I have no vested interest in this cooker, apart from thinking about buying one for my narrowboat. Reply For the latest information and advice on COVID-19, please refer to the latest updates by the UK Government. It makes for more efficient and faster cooking, plus it’s safer in a small space because, once your pan’s removed, there’s no hot surface. Products that run on D.C. power have become a lot more efficient in recent years and don’t use nearly as much energy as they once did. TVs, lighting and fridges are good examples. So it’s completely practical – with the right equipment – to live “off-grid” and use only the power that’s generated in your vehicle or boat.

Cooking on the road may be convenient, but if you don’t pay attention to safety, things can go wrong. The risk of spillages and burns is higher when you’re parked on uneven roads and not able to keep a close eye on your cooker. Therefore, you should look for a portable cooker which has safety features built-in to minimize the potential for accidents.

The total rated wattage of equipment switched on at the same time needs to be less than the power supplied to you.
