Performing live gigswithneed a super-compact portable rig, or playing and recording your ideas at home with a few of your band mates, ready to upload online? Just pull out the ZED-i10FX from your bag, and setup in minutes. The ZED series use GS-Pre boutique preamps so that you get exceptionally low noise and plenty of headroom. This means your sound output to the speakers/recording will be clear, clean and sweet. ZEDi-10FX features an exceptional new preamp design, created by analogue guru, Mike Griffin and developed from his highly acclaimed GS-R24 studio recording console. Known as GSPre, the preamps deliver exceptionally low noise and massive headroom, and the warmth and depth that Allen & Heath’s analog range is famous for. For tonal shaping, the precise 3 band MusiQ EQ controls have been carefully calibrated for responsiveness and precision, making it easy for you to shape and enhance each musical source. Road tough build quality

Just how much does this compact mixer with a built‑in audio interface and effects offer the home recordist? Don't be hesitant to plug your best mics into the Allen & Heath ZEDi-10FX. This compact mixer boasts GSPre preamplifiers, created by analog guru Mike Griffin and based on his acclaimed GS-R24 recording console. These preamps provide lots of headroom and very little noise, and promise to deliver pleasing warmth and depth. Whether you're podcasting or recording vocals for a music project, expect great results from the ZEDi-10FX's GSPre preamps. Connect guitar and bass directly, no need for DI boxes

The whole thing feels pretty solid, and all of the knobs seem to be securely fastened to the front panel, rather than directly to the circuit‑board, as you sometimes find on cheaper, flimsier designs. On Test Allen & Heath may transfer, assign, charge, sub-contract or otherwise dispose of this EULA, or any of its rights or obligations arising under it, at any time. Allen & Heath's marketing blurb suggests that the ZED series is 'perfect' for live mixing, and while that might be hyperbole, it would certainly serve well in that capacity, where most of the effects and the tap tempo would certainly come in handy. The level knobs are inevitably more fiddly than faders, though, and I know which I'd prefer to have on a dimly lit stage! However, I think that the primary market for this mixer should be the home studio, and anyone looking to make decent‑quality band demo recordings. This mixer has Onyx preamplifiers. It is already printed on the metal surface of the small mixer. These low-noise preamps are not only known for their good sound.

ZEDi-10FX features an exceptional new preamp design, created by analogue guru, Mike Griffin and developed from his highly acclaimed GS-R24 studio recording console. Known as GSPre, the preamps deliver exceptionally low noise and massive headroom, and the warmth and depth that Allen & Heath's analogue range is famous for. For tonal shaping, the precise 3 band MusiQ EQ controls have been carefully calibrated for responsiveness and precision, making it easy to shape and enhance each musical source. Third, the built-in FX are not only actually optimized for send/return use (no distortions or harmonizers or other stuff you’d never strap across an entire bus in a conventional mix!), but they’re actually adjustable. The engine features 61 presets with delays, reverbs, and modulation effects, alone and in combination. Each has one internal parameter that can be adjusted to taste and saved with the preset. While the standards are all here, I particularly enjoyed some of the unusual choices like the LF-adjustable Thunder Verb and the mixtures of reverb and modulation like Ambient Phase and Plate Symphonic. The Allen & Heath ZEDi-10FX USB Audio Interface is a USB audio interface, featuring four inputs, four outputs, FX, a 3-band EQ, and 48V phantom power. The ZEDi-10FX combines the robustness and hands-on control of an analogue mixer with a high quality 4 x 4 USB interface and an outstanding multi-model FX unit, making it a perfect all-round choice for musicians, recording artists and venues. Featuring the new GSPre boutique preamp design, the ZED boasts exceptionally low noise and massive headroom, with a signature analogue warmth and depth. While the stereo channels offer no other options apart from a single volume control (rotary potentiometer), the mono channel strips are more extensively equipped. The monitors can be fed by the main mix or by the headphones mix, your choice being enacted via a single button that appears just before the monitor level control in the signal path. The level is indicated by a 12‑section stereo (so 24 sections in total) LED meter, which is clearly calibrated.

I worked with the ZEDi-10FX for a few weeks, integrating it into my portable DAW rig as I collected material for a new album I’m working on, with voice, nylon-string (piezo input) and electric guitar and bass, keyboards, and hand percussion.WITHOUT PREJUDICE TO CLAUSE 9.2) IN ANY CASE ALLEN & HEATH’S ENTIRE LIABILITY UNDER ANY PROVISION OF THIS EULA SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT ACTUALLY PAID BY YOU FOR THE SOFTWARE. Preamp design from Soundcraft, effects from Lexicon, and Dynamics from dbx: that sounds like an enticing compact mixer. Especially since the Soundcraft Signature 12 MTK is generally not expensive at the friendly music equipment dealer. It even has a 14-channel, bidirectional USB interface on board. Let’s start with the GSPre mic pres, which actually sound pretty nice. They’re very clean mic pres — which is a good start for those looking for a budget mixer/interface combo, as it means that you have a little more control over the sound in the box. Not only that, but the pres have a low noise floor — an important thing to consider in both live and studio situations. Transfer to a third party: You may make a one-time permanent transfer of this EULA and the Software to another end user. If you do so (i) You may not retain any copy of the Software, (ii) the transfer must include all of the Software (including all component parts, the media and printed materials, any updates and, if applicable, a Certificate of Authenticity) and be subject to this EULA. The transfer may not be an indirect transfer, such as a consignment. Prior to the transfer, the end user receiving the Software must agree to be bound by this EULA and any amendment or addendum to this EULA. I connected the ZED10 FX to my MacBook Pro and it was recognised instantly as a class‑compliant USB audio device, so no drivers were required. However, Allen & Heath suggest trying the third‑party ASIO4ALL driver if you're experiencing any problems on a PC (not that you should be!).
