About this deal

This is exactly how much you will need with the Target Sensitive Eyes brand, but other brands may differ slightly! We hope you love this butter slime recipe as much as we do! You can also substitute the clay and add some cornstarch in for a similar consistency. We would recommend about 2-4 tablespoons of cornstarch. Elmer’s White Glue (8 oz)– Note: We have only tested this with Elmer’s glue and recommend this brand as other brands may not work. Do not use Elmer’s Glue All.

You may notice the mixture starting to solidify a little, but 1 tablespoon likely won’t be enough to fully activate your slime. You’ll probably end up needing somewhere between 1 tablespoon and 1 ½ tablespoons. STEP 5: Mix in 1 tbsp saline solution and stir until slime forms and pulls away from sides of bowl. Slime is a polymer. Other examples of polymers are Jell-O, gum and rubber bands. Glue is also an example of a polymer. A polymer is made of long chains of polyvinyl acetate molecules. These chains slide easily between one another making the substance pourable.

You did it! Your clay slime recipe is now ready to play with. We love making handprints in ours. Soft butter slime is so squishy and relaxing to play with too. Printable Slime Recipe Guide BUTTER SLIME RECIPE SLIME INGREDIENTS: No, you don’t need shaving cream to make butter slime. Shaving cream adds a bit of a foamy texture to your slime, but the foam only lasts for a few hours. Try placing the butter slime in a bowl of hot water and letting it sit for a few minutes. Once the water temperature cools down enough to touch, knead the slime while it’s in the water. This will help to make the slime more stretchy and soft again. Note: the clay in butter slime will make it harden faster than regular slime. Ingredients Needed to Make Butter Slime This butter slime is so fun to play with! It’s a simple recipe that kids will love! Make it yellow like real butter, or tint it your favourite colour!

Picture the difference between wet spaghetti and leftover spaghetti the next day. As the slime forms, the tangled molecule strands are much like a clump of spaghetti! Is slime a liquid or solid?

We tested many different recipes for butter slime and found most of them to be not that stretchy. We actually tested about 10 different recipe variations before we were finally happy with this butter slime recipe.

Slime is a science experiment and should be made and played with in moderation. Do not allow children to make their own slime and do not play with slime for an extended period of time. What’s cool about this slime? First, it stays nice and stretchy for a lot longer. Second, it’s a bit moldable. Third, it has a smooth, rich, and silky feeling texture! I know, there are soft slime recipes out there, shaving cream slime which she thought was fun, and the list goes on and on.

What makes butter slime less sticky?

From all the recipes we tested, butter slime is not very stretchy. We’ve added in water, baby oil and baby lotion to help make it stretchier. If you do not want it to be stretchy and want it to be more of a moldable substance you can skip these ingredients. Is clay slime butter slime? Yes, it’s the addition of clay to the basic slime recipe that makes for a fun butter slime. Read on to find out what clay to use and how to make clay slime step by step. We always like to include a bit of homemade slime science around here! Slime is an excellent chemistry demonstration, and kids love it too! As you stir the mixture with a spoon, it should start to solidify a little, but a single tablespoon may not be enough to fully activate your slime. (You’ll probably end up needing somewhere between 1 tablespoon and 1 ½ tablespoons.)

If you use a different brand of glue it’s possible it will still work, but we can’t guarantee that your slime will work properly with the measurements used in our recipe. What type of slime activator do you recommend? We always recommend using Elmer’s School Glue to make slime. It works consistently to make great slime, and we know we’ll get the results we want.Once I’ve added the initial tablespoon, I usually add one small squirt at a time, mixing well between each addition. Mixtures, substances, polymers, cross-linking, states of matter, elasticity, and viscosity are just a few science concepts that can be explored with homemade slime!
