About this deal

Fire Dragon Bright– This vibrant orange shade is a great choice for highlighting details and creating accents on miniatures painted with Sigvald Burgundy. As a warm color, it also helps to balance out the cool tones of the blue and provide a cohesive color scheme overall. It can be used to create dynamic highlights and shadows, as well as to create contrast with other colours like blue and bone. At Eldyra's direction, spells of concealment hid towns, waystones, and mansions from the oncoming foe. Harried and blinded, Sigvald's army was soon lost in the Cothique highlands. [2a] The Citadel paint range exploded with colour last month, as eye-popping new Contrasts and reformulated Shades hit the shelves. Since we’ve had some time to get familiar with the newcomers, we challenged members of the Warhammer Community team to use their new paints in strange and interesting ways. Here’s what they came up with. Ben Galler On the paler end of the scale for blues and greens, the less saturated Briar Queen Chill finds itself sitting alongside Aethermatic Blue.

It was from here that Sigvald, in his desire for perfection, gave his soul to a Daemonic Slaaneshi entity known only as Belus Pül. In exchange for his patronage, Sigvald promised the Daemon that he would follow his dream and indulge himself in every kind of decadence no matter how slight. With his soul sold to the Daemon, Sigvald was given the power he needed to acquire anything he so desires. [3a] Paint makes Warhammer, and gorgeous miniatures are a key part of the Warhammer hobby. There’s nothing better than two epic-looking armies facing off on the battlefield, and we all take great enjoyment in sharing our proudest paint jobs on the internet. To help you keep creating incredible armies and jaw-dropping models, Citadel Colour are massively expanding the Contrast range, improving the range of amazing Shade paints, and creating the smoothest and brightest ever white spray – the best just got better. Hundreds of years later, Sigvald the Magnificent marches to war at the head of an army of admiring followers. Any who the Prince deems to be ugly, crude or irritating he has put to the blade, sometimes eradicating whole cities on a whim. Slaanesh spoils his adopted son as an indulgent father, and Sigvald’s wild excesses only serve to elevate him further in the Dark Prince’s favour. Jaded and capricious in the extreme, Sigvald the Magnificent ever strives to plumb new depths of cruelty in his conquests. He inspires fanatical devotion in his followers, for they know that in the aftermath of battle, they may sate their most unholy lusts without restraint.

Need a brown that’s got the tan punch of Snakebite Leather but is stronger like Cygor Brown? Garaghak’s Sewer is your weapon of choice. The “real” Contrast colours. These are the ones that do exactly what Contrast promises – pulling away from the edges and gathering in the recesses while still tinting the surface, creating mid-tone, shading and some basic highlights with one application. This was the majority of the range and comprises all colours I didn’t mention in the first two categories. Plus some colours have a tendency to produce smoother results while some dry rather unevenly. And while most Contrast paints dry matte, you sometimes get a pot that dries a bit glossy. The Army Painter’s competing product Speedpaint provides more consistent results but has some other issues like reactivating paint, as we pointed out in our review here. Lizzie: This is a really fun, swampy green with a number of applications. Naturally, it’s great for giving those Mantis Warriors some time in the spotlight. To some, that might contradict the idea of Contrast somewhat, but the smooth and even finish of these colours means that you can achieve an (almost) perfect layer of yellow, orange or red with just a single coat of paint.Pretty revolutionary. Note that these colours still require a white/light primer, as they are transparent like all Contrast paints.

At first, Sigvald's every wish was made manifest. However, the prince's excesses eventually grew too obscene even for his father and, when his fondness for Human flesh was discovered, Sigvald was banished.

I’ve used this to create some bright warp flame, and Nighthaunt magic.

Kroxigor Scales or Luxion Purple are perfect for painting the warp-touched daemons of Tzeentch in all their chromatic splendour, while Imperial Fist Yellow or Striking Scorpion Green will give the Scions of the Flame access to a kaleidoscopic inferno – let your imagination run wild! The icon of Sigvald the Magnificent and the Decadent Host, his Warriors of Chaos army in Total War: Warhammer III.

Need to paint some solid Space Marine armour? Hues like Baal Red and Bad Moon Yellow will make short work of saturated ceramite for any Chapter. Or, if you’ve got your eyes on a Hedonites of Slaanesh war host, Doomfire Magenta will give you the luxurious robes you need to satiate the Lord of Pleasure himself. The “dark and flat” colours, namely Dark Angels Green, Cygor Brown, Leviadon Blue, and Shyish Purple. These paints tint a lot but don’t produce very pronounced highlights. A supercharged alternative to Warp Lightning, Karandras Green is one of the most intense Contrast paints in the whole range.

The personification of beauty on the outside, but utter moral rot within, the Geld-Prince rides at the head of an army of utterly devoted followers who would give their lives for him without a second thought. Dozens of exotic females attend to his every whim and desire, and his elite honour guard, called the Mirror Guard, bear mirrored shields so that Sigvald might bask in his own divine glory at all times. Such are the depths of Sigvald's self-obsession that he will even call his retainers to attend him with their mirrors in the midst of battle, preening and murmuring compliments to himself as men plunge into battle and die all around him. [1a] Mortarion Grime is a lovely shade of yellowy filth that’s perfect for weathering war machines and dirtying grizzled behemoths. Tyran Blue and Berserker Bloodshade offer new ways to shade reds and blues that are more vivid than our existing hues, while Soulblight Grey is great for shading pale paint schemes. These items were provided by Games Workshop. Thoughts and opinions are our own. The new Contrast Colours review & comparisonAt this, Sigvald gave into a rage more akin to a Khornate Berserker than a Champion of Slaanesh, granting the Wight King yet another death. As Sigvald knelt over his opponent's body, he let out a scream of anguish. It was then that Throgg appeared behind him. The monster pummelled Sigvald into nothing more than a bloody pulp, angered by his constant taunts and boorish behavior, before urinating upon his ruined corpse... [5] [6] Wargear Together with the new Contrast paints and reformulated shades, you’ll find it easier than ever to achieve the results you want and make your miniatures pop on the battlefield. Thousand Sons: The Thousand Sons are a Chaos Space Marine faction that focuses on psychic abilities and sorcery. They are often depicted wearing ornate, Egyptian-inspired armor in shades of blue and gold. Painting their armor in a deep burgundy instead of blue could be a unique twist on their traditional color scheme.
