About this deal

This machine uses premium 2” x 72” belts that are available in a wide variety of grits and materials for getting exactly the results you desire. Those belts spin at an impressive 4,500 FPM, or feet per minute, allowing you to get excellent results with minimal pressure. FF87 is our more flexible ceramic abrasive sanding belt. We particularly recommend the FF87 belts for finer sanding with powerfile machines and also with tube polishers. These are also made by the Red Label Abrasive Store. They are great for putting that final shine on your knives. How To Use A Belt Grinder For Knife Making When you start applying pressure to shape your blade, the last thing you want is for the machine to move. Machines that aren’t completely stable can make it very difficult to create precise shapes. Built-into this device is an adjustable eye shield to add an extra layer of protection against shrapnel. Unfortunately, it’s only for the grinder. But since this has a true grinding wheel rather than the sanding wheel on most belt grinders, you’ll be able to use it as a round grinding surface when making knives.

We supply a wide range of sanding belts for metals. The Cibo Ceramic belts are particularly suited to aggressive sanding & grinding. If you are on a budget, I wouldn’t buy anything smaller than a 2″x48″ belt grinder. These tend to be a few hundred dollars cheaper, and are a good starting point if you are not sure if you want to make the investment in a good grinder. Although many people have started on smaller grinders than a 2″x48″ belt grinder, I wouldn’t recommend it, as you will just replace your weak small one after 3 knives anyways as they are not very good for the task. The value of this belt sander is expanded with many extra functions, such as a sanding disc with a miter gauge and a removable belt platen. One user assessed the overall performance of this tool. “I use this grinder to shape and grind knives, some are extremely hard steel,” they wrote. “This has performed very well.”FX87 36 grit ceramic 75 x 2000mm grinding belts. More expensive than the 36 grit zirconia belts the 36 grit ceramics earn their keep being much longer lasting and fast cutting making them the most cost effective high aggression grinding belt option. The Happybuy belt grinder machine features a fast grinding speed with three different grinding types: arc grinding, circular grinding, as well as flat grinding. The most popular sanding belts for wood are made from our KP949 materials and are often supplied for both long pad sander sanding belt machines and for wide belt sander applications.

The most important specifications to account for when shopping for a belt grinder are variations in the belt and motor. These factors will determine the accuracy, efficiency, and durability of any machine. While there is a certain industry standard for these elements, professional-level features will often result in a higher price tag. Therefore, buyers should consider their workload and what is needed for their projects. Belt Sizes

Our two most popular zirconium oxide (zirconia) sanding belts would be HZ72 and TZ59 materials. both are available from 24 grit up to 120 grit. There are also belts that have their abrasive materials glued onto the belt in little piles that can continue to cut effectively as the abrasive material is grinded off. These belts are said to have structured abrasives. Structured abrasives are often made of AO or aluminum oxide, but this is not always the case. Belts made out of structured AO will last longer than unstructured AO. Surface grinding attachments are used for cleaning and smoothing down rough edges on flat surfaces.
