About this deal

Most of the characters including sisters of Caroline were dislikable. I think I mostly loved Yardley: she’s smart, confident and devoted friend who stood up for Caroline and I think I cannot say no to another prequel to learn more about her story evolved. It is true I do not suffer fools.Poor little Cadence Sinclair is wealthy. She is loved. She is one of the Sinclairs, a good-looking "old-money Democrat" family, think the Kennedys, without the political aspirations. They have names like Liberty, Taft, and Tipper. They go to Ivy League schools. They have trust funds. They have sired a generation of children, the leader of which is Cadence. Cadence and her crew call themselves "The Liars." The Liars are composed of her cousins Mirren, Johnny, and the outcast "Healthcliff," Indian love interest, Gat. It will be a treat for readers to see the Sinclairs’ island come to life, particularly the four houses built for patriarch Harris Sinclair and his three daughters (the Liars’ mothers), since they are related to much of the story’s drama. But simply getting a visual of that exclusive world where the families spend their summers isn’t the biggest draw to this adaptation. We are Sinclairs. Beautiful. Privileged. Damaged. Liars. We live, least in the summertime, on a private island off the coast of Massachusetts. Perhaps that is all you need to know.” The Sinclairs spend their summers on the island. Cadence and the other older cousins (Johnny and Mirren) along with Gat Patil (the nephew of Carrie's partner Ed) are known by the family as "The Liars". The summer Cadence is fifteen, which she refers to as Summer Fifteen, Gat and Cadence fall in love and begin a relationship.

the prequel follows 17 year old Caroline “Carrie” Sinclair, one of the three Sinclair sisters and Johnny’s (from We Were Liars) mother, during one unforgettable summer. it was very reminiscent of the first book, but stands entirely on its own. stylistically, both books are similar, the narrative style of this book echoing the narration of the first. but plot wise, they’re nothing alike. The plot introduces itself in a vague manner and slowly unravels. I found that the messages held more power than the characters delivering them—the sum was definitely greater than its parts. Which fit the tone nicely. Yo pensaba que We Were Liars iba a ser mi tipo de libro. Parecía extraño, con una forma de narrar elocuente y un misterio que rodeaba a la protagonista. Sin embargo, no. No ha sido mi tipo de libro. I just finished reading the book and so many feels are tumbling so I may be confused and wrong in the text above, but that's what I am feeling and wanted to express it to you. Beside the summary, I like the writing style, it was rich and beautiful and I would recommend this book to readers out there. It's a very dark book and I assure you that you will find it very interesting. Caroline Lennox Taft Sinclair (Carrie) lives a privileged lifestyle. Her wealthy family owns an island off the coast of Massachusetts where they summer every year. In this book, she is telling her son, Johnny, the story of the summer of 1987. She thinks it is particularly important for him to hear this story, but is unsure whether she will be able to tell the whole truth. One thing I'm especially enjoying about this book is how accurate the teen dialogue sounded. Conversations are littered with 'like', and awkward pauses, and slightly immature humour, and it all felt so real. I actually love pretentious teens in some other YA books, such as those penned by John Green, but it is also refreshing to find authenticity here. Cadence Sinclair Eastman is the eldest grandchild of the wealthy Harris Sinclair. Although her family pretends to be perfect, Cadence knows that beneath the surface, the wealth and privilege have taken an insidious toll on her family and any unhappiness or odd behavior is ignored or repressed to perpetuate the image of refinement. Harris has three daughters, Cadence's mother Penny, and her aunts Carrie and Bess. Harris owns an island called Beechwood Island near Martha's Vineyard and has built a home for himself called Clairmont along with a house for each of his daughters.

This was, without a doubt, one of the most powerful and well-crafted books I have read in a really long time. This review may seem just as ambiguous as the story itself, but it must be if you wish to obtain the full effect of its delivery. It's not terrible. But there's almost no plot at all. The "Liars" are more "Talkers," and they have almost no relevant role in the book because this book is about a pretentious girl with nothing but #whitegirlproblems and #richpeopleproblems. The aforementioned "Liars" don't do anything in this book, they're not witty, they're not cute, they don't give off the sense of closeness and kinship that you get from growing up with someone their entire life. Hell, they're nowhere near Dead Poets Society kind of interesting. Although I found this story entirely unique, if I had to compare, I’d say its structure reminds me a bit of On the Jellicoe Road. Its haunting tone, as well. We Were Liars was the beginning of becoming the obsessive bookworm that i am. so i owe a lot to this book. the impact it had on me and the memories it holds are unparalleled. We Were LiarsParents Guide This book does include strong language, as well as topics like drugs, mental illness, death, and racism. Later into the book it got became very dark.

Somehow Beechwood Island just keeps feeling more alluring to me. You’d think after reading these two books and knowing the history of it all I’d be wanting to run a million miles… but why does a summer holiday here sound so fun? Why?! It gives you all of those fun summer vacation vibes… yet with all of the underlying feeling in your stomach that something is seriously not right. so what im trying to say is, the first book means a lot to me. it has for eight years. and naturally, a prequel scared the shit out of me. i imagine it’s how fans of Ari and Dante felt when the sequel released last year. but i couldn’t not read this. i owe it to 14 year old me who was sobbing in her bedroom, clutching this to her chest and never wanting to let go. We Were Liars is a clever book and an incredibly sophisticated piece of the Young Adult genre. We Were Liars PDF: Read and Annotate The personification of emotion. This might not make sense unless you've read the book, but wow it was powerful.

So yeah, I just decided to read it and hoped it would be good and looking at it in retrospective this actually was the best decision I could have made! ;-P
