There are certainly shades of The Giver, along with elements from Divergent, and even Matched. If you enjoyed these books, I believe that you will enjoy The Gender Game as well. Surely if you enjoyed The Gender Game, you need to read these better-known and mass-published books, because you will get a great deal out of them. I loved this book and could not bear to put it down! Violet is a wonderful character, she is not perfect but she is bold and brave. She is likable. She values the friendships she makes. Viggo is a man with an unfortunate past and an equally likeable character. Lee is probably the only character that I did not care for at all in this book....his characterization seemed sort of 'BLAH' to me. I think he could have been fleshed out more...I mean Violet is married to him but they barely have any interaction in the book, seemed like a missed chance in my opinion.We've come a long way since then—quiet, you—but there are still plenty of games about sex that are just as bad in their own way. Those that aren't deserve to be celebrated, because sex is as worthy a theme for games to explore as anything else. Sex can be playful and funny and exciting, and those are all things videogames excel at.

We question her decisions, her opinions and her heart just as she questions herself.
