About this deal

Both have the coloured rubber grip that runs down the front of the brush handle and a power button that is accented in white. Grips above and below the button are present and the rear of the brush handle is a gloss white plastic with hard plastic grips. Oral B Pro 1 comes with one mode, the daily clean versus three modes (daily clean, sensitive and whitening) of Pro 3 3000.

On the rear of the handle rather than raised plastic ridges, the 3000 has a more subtle dimpled surface. A smaller, but relevant difference relating to the cleaning modes is that the motor in the Pro 2 2000 is a bit more powerful and actually offers more movements than the Pro 600. A small but noteworthy point is that the motor in the Pro 2 series is a little more powerful on the daily clean mode. What this means is that the head moves a bit more during each clean. It could help produce better results in the long term, but honestly, it does not make a significant difference, you still get a great clean from the 600. With either of the Pro brushes shown here, the daily clean cycle lasts for 2 minutes (120 seconds) and sees 8,800 oscillations and 20,000 pulsations through that cycle, a number of movements not humanly possible. The Smart 6 travel case is better than some of the cheaper models. It is a white colour and is fairly robust. ThePro 600 offers 8,800 oscillations and 20,0000 pulsations whilst the 2000 offers 9,900oscillations and 45,000 pulsations. A feature that is not really marketed, but exists, is something called sound connectivity. You may see this more with the Pro 650 marketing than any other. Whilst technically any of the Oral-B brush heads can be fitted and used on any of the cleaning modes, some are better suited to particular cleaning modes. We discuss this and include diagrams in our Oral-B brush head comparison post.

Just be aware that bristles really only need to skim the teeth. Only a little brushing force is needed. More scrubbing pressure does not equal a better clean. Two of the more cost effective models within the Oral-B range of electric toothbrushes, these two are among the most popular models available on the market today and either serve the vast majority of users very well. There is not much difference in the size and weight all told, only a few grams but sit them side by side and we think that most would prefer the in-hand feeling of the Smart 5. The Oral-B Pro 2 2000 is a better choice than the Oral-B Pro 600, primarily because it offers more cleaning power, pressure sensor, and double the battery life, making it a worthwhile upgrade BUT, one of the biggest flaws of the Smart 5 is the fact that you can’t easily tell what cleaning mode you are using. The Genius resolves this issue to a point with a series of icons that illuminate on the handle when the selected mode is in operation.

It does not have quite the premium look and feel of some Sonicare toothbrush models, in my opinion, but the overall shape and form factor is very practical. The blue bristles within the head will fade over time to a pale blue/translucent colour. This is a cue for you to change. And when comes to the colour options, whereas the Pro 600 comes in blue colour only, the Pro 2 2000, on the other hand, comes in blue and pink colours to choose from. The 3000 models come with 3 cleaning modes (daily clean, sensitive and whitening) compared with 2 of 2000 and one of 600. All of these models come with 1 x brush handle, 1 x brush head, 1 x charging stand and documentation in the box. Pro 600 / Pro 1 600 Of the 2 electric toothbrushes, Oral-B Pro 600 is the cheapest option and for peace of mind, you get 2 to 3 years warranty if you register it. Above and below this power button are contours in the rubber that drive the eye and the finger/thumb to it.
