About this deal

Explore: You will find some suggestions on the Home tab in the app, but if you look at the bottom, there’s an Explore option (globe icon). The Explore section is a great place to learn more about what your lights can do. You can see group options or select individual devices at the top.

I have a few Philips Hue lights that I would like to rotate through colors within a set scene slowly. It would be nice for each light to fade from one color to the next within the preset colors in the palette — for example, my Philips Hue Lily and Calla lights. I'd like the same for the Hue Signe table lamp as well. It is much like the Govee Lyra Corne Floor Lamp that I reviewed, but the Lyra can react to music, have the lights move, and transition in colors.Automation: You can schedule lights to turn on and off by selecting them on the Device tab and choosing Timer. You can also create automations on the Automation tab. You can choose to turn all lights off at a certain time every night, but you can also set up triggers to change brightness, color, color temperature, mode, and more (available options depend on the device). While you can change colors, brightness, or turn it off with your chosen smart home platform, you must dip into the Govee app if you want effects. Sadly, unlike some competitors, this light strip cannot be trimmed to fit your space, and it only comes in 6.5-feet (2-meter) or 16.4-feet (5-meter) lengths. If you don’t care about Matter, save some money with one of Govee’s RGBIC LED Light Strips. Colors and effects: Choose a light on the Device tab and tap Effects Lab to find all the available colors and effects to try. If you want to cycle through different effects, tap on Auto-Play, specify how it should change, and create a list of effects to cycle through.

With everything connected, the Sync Box then takes the signal from the video source, interprets what is happening in the scene, and sends it to the light strip to mimic. This leads to an impressive light show that wonderfully matches what is happening on your TV screen. The Sync Box is supposed to automatically change inputs based on what device is playing, but in my experience, it is hit-and-miss. Govee and Philips have features combining other lights in their respective ecosystem with the television immersion systems for a whole room lighting experience. However, if you go the Hue route, you'll spend a fair amount more to do that. Calibration: Some Govee smart lighting, such as the TV or gaming syncing products, requires a calibration process to work properly. Take your time and follow the instructions precisely for the best results. You can always redo calibration in the Govee app. Like its lights, the Philips Hue app is a clean and modern approach. While it has plenty of customization options and menus for its lights, the app does a good job of not feeling cluttered. You'll find feature-rich apps from both sides. But sometimes, it does seem like some options have been overlooked, such as being able to allow for motion in lighting scenes.The installation and configuration are a total pain in the rear, but once completed and tweaked to your liking, this is a great light syncing system. It can also be grouped with other Govee lights to sync them too. Consider the Nanoleaf 4D Kit if you're not tied to Govee. Govee has an app. Available features depend on your chosen lighting, but the Govee app enables you to turn lights on and off, change colors, select and create animated effects, schedule your lights, and lots more. We recommend installing it and creating an account before you install your new lighting, but beware: It is messy and confusing, and you will need time to get your head around it. Names: If you didn’t choose a descriptive name during setup or you want to change your light names, select the Device tab, choose a device, and tap the cog at the top right, then Device name to edit. Remember these names will also be used for Alexa and Google Assistant if you set up voice controls, so short and memorable is best. Choose a spot. Think carefully about where you want to install your smart lighting and remember that you need a power outlet nearby (or the ability to run an extension cord). Most of Govee’s smart lights have reasonably long cables, but measure up to avoid errors. verifyErrors }}{{ message }}{{ /verifyErrors }}{{
