About this deal

Corsodyl mouthwash can cause straining of the teeth. This is not permanent and can be reduced by brushing the teeth with toothpaste or in the case of dentures, using a conventional denture cleaner. Avoiding drinking tea, coffee or red wine, especially in the hour after using the mouthwash, can also help prevent staining. Where normal brushing is not possible, or if any staining remains, your teeth may need scaling and polishing by your dentist after you've finished using the mouthwash. Medicines and their possible side effects can affect individual people in different ways. The following are some of the side effects that are known to be associated with Corsodyl spray. Just because a side effect is stated here doesn't mean that all people using this medicine will experience that or any side effect.

If you have any of the following symptoms, it may be a sign of a more serious infection. Stop using chlorhexidine sore throat treatments and speak to a doctor if you: Use your chlorhexidine treatment instead of soap or shower gel when you wash. You use it in the same way as an ordinary soap or gel. However, it may not be as foamy. Only use chlorhexidine lozenges and sore throat spray for a short time. Do not keep using them continuously. Wait at least 30 to 60 minutes before having something to eat or drink. Dosage and how to use mouthwash

Chlorhexidine has also been shown to prevent the formation and build up of plaque on teeth, which helps prevent inflammation of the gums (gingivitis). Using the spray is particularly useful when toothbrushing is a problem, for example following dental surgery or in people who are physically or mentally disabled. Discoloration of the teeth and tongue may occur. The stain is not permanent and can largely be prevented by reducing the consumption of dietary chromagens such as tea, coffee or red wine. In the case of dentures this can be prevented by cleaning with a conventional denture cleaner. In certain cases professional treatment (scaling and polishing) may be required to remove the stain completely. Stained anterior tooth-coloured restorations with poor margins or rough surfaces which are not adequately cleaned by professional prophylaxis may require replacement. Similarly where normal toothbrushing is not possible, for example with intermaxillary fixation, or with extensive orthodontic appliances, scaling and polishing may also be required once the underlying condition has been resolved. Stop using the mouthwash and tell your dentist if you get irritation of the mouth, soreness or swelling of the inside of the cheeks.

For the treatment of gingivitis a course of about one month is advisable although some variation in response is to be expected. In the case of aphthous ulceration and oral candidal infections treatment should be continued for 48 hours after clinical resolution. For the treatment of dental stomatitis the dentures should be cleansed and soaked in Corsodyl 0.2% Mouthwash for fifteen minutes twice daily. Common side effects happen in more than 1 in 100 people. They're usually mild and do not last long. If you cannot use it at a different time, then rinse your mouth thoroughly with water after brushing your teeth. Wait at least 5 minutes before using chlorhexidine. Adults and children over 12 years of age should use the spray twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Up to twelve sprays should be applied to the surfaces of the teeth and gums, or to ulcers or other sore areas in the mouth. For the treatment of gingivitis a course of about one month is advisable although some variation in response is to be expected.
