About this deal

I was actually surprised that when he learned that Fabiano disappeared he did not try to look for him, especially knowing that Rocco was a poor excuse for a father who just recently got another son. Also, speaking about Rocco, I actually find it really hard to believe that no one thought it strange that he went missing for months before Dante gave him to Remo. I mean even like mention that he went into hiding or something. I would expect that the Consigliere being nowhere to be found and on top of that impossible to reach even through phone would cause quite a chaos. Luca might be one of the most sought after men in New York thanks to his good looks, wealth and predator-like charisma that radiates power, but the society girls throwing themselves at him don’t know that the bad boy aura isn’t just a game; blood and death lurk beneath Luca’s striking gray eyes and arrogant smile. A handsome exterior often hides the monster within; a monster who can just as easily kill as kiss you. I found it interesting that Dante was mentioning that Camorra was a problem, etc., how he had Luca on one side and Remo on the other before they were allied. I have to say that I sort of missed a scene where he reacts to Nino and Kiara's wedding and the pact between Luca and Remo. It would have been interesting to see. Samuel is now betrothed to Danilo's younger sister who was crippled by an accident, Emma. I really hope they get a book because this seems like it could be an amazing story.

I hate lucaria, god their presence annoys me so much, they’re always acting like saviors and their moral superiority is just so annoying, i mean they’re even doctors in this one wow Every character seemed bland and boring. I don't know how Cora managed to make all her characters lose their appeal, turning this instead into some kind of fairytale. I only enjoyed Matteo, who despite everything is still my charming psycho. Even from Dante's POV and him saying I still do not feel like he loves her. And for how small Carla's part was his feelings toward her resonated more than anything towards Val. And I don't mean it just here but the moment I finished the book I still had a hard time believing his love towards Val. In my humble opinion, it would have been far more better if they didn’t have children but anyway I really loved their part cz it showed the genuine side of motherhood which is not all heart and flowers. So it is appreciated 💕

Basically, the best bit of the book was when Matteo punched Luca in his arrogant stupid face and called him out for cheating. I hope that Dante has a bit of a jealous streak in this book. Maybe someone makes the moves on Valentina and he shuts them down fast. A kidnapping narrative could be cool. Having Dante go crazy looking for his dear wife, but I am not sure of that would be best in the long-term. The bad guys. [...] I wondered if little boys in the Camorra asked their dads the same question when they spoke about us? Would Luca's son ask his father that question when he talked about Dante? Bad was always a matter of perspective. Not much is revealed about Luca as a child. When he was nine his mother had killed herself to get away from his abusive father. Luca was the one to find her, he ran out crying. His father found him and slapped him, telling him to never cry again because it is a sign of weakness. He became a Made Men at the age of 11 after killing his first man but saving his brother Matteo's life, getting himself shot in the process.

His actions made him more humane than Cora Reilly's other mafia heroes. He comes across as the most superficially cold and distant H, but I think he's the one with the biggest heart. Luca will always be my favourite and I'll never quite be able to find those barbaric and uncouth Camorra guys equally attractive, but Dante is the closest second best ever !I’ll try to be the best husband I can possibly be, which probably is still much less than you deserve.” Evie soon realizes that being Xavier’s assistant is a 24/7 job; the man seems unwilling to even set an alarm for himself. I really hope you guys love this book because CR did such an amazing job with Dante’s beginning and how he evolved through the years as Capo, husband and father. Each of the books in this series are stand-alones, so they can be read separately, but I honestly feel you should read the first book because the characters in the first book do make appearances in this one too. Also, Dante admitted that he basically wines and dines with men who go home and beat and rape their wives and children but what can he do.. they are his associates and he needs to keep them for their skills. *pukes some more*
