About this deal

Alongside "50+" aquatic creatures - including sharks, whales, manta rays, dolphins, eels, and seahorses - Aquarium Odyssey promises "100+" new shops, decorations, and facilities, seven new enclosures, plus a new story campaign said to last over 20 hours. Let’s Build A Zoo with Dinosaur Island DLCis available now on PlayStation 4 & 5 (reviewed on latter), Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Series S|X, and PC via Steam. Last year's Dinosaur Island DLC introduced various new prehistoric tools to play with - including dino DNA to turn into even weirder creatures - and Let's Build a Zoo's newly announced Aquarium Odyssey DLC aims to do something similar, only this with, you know, wet stuff. Let's Build A Zoo puts you in charge of your own animal sanctuary, where you can build beautiful enclosures and fill them with a whole host of different animals. It's your choice whether to be an eager beaver with grand designs, or let it all descend into otter chaos. To celebrate, we've put out a brand new free update for the base game today, called the Sloths and Spas update! We'll leave you to guess what's in that.

You start as the manager of a brand-new zoo, and after a few tutorial screens you’re left with a blank canvas of land and the freedom to mould it any way you want. You start with two main ways to gain new animals: rescuing them from an independent shelter, or trading with other zoos across the globe. Eventually attendees come to see these animals, and your goal is to keep everybody happy and make tons of money along the way. Anyone with even a small amount of ADD might find this to be a struggle. I found it to be too much to handle and avoid this game like the plague now. With incredible fossil discoveries, over 50 new dinosaur species are now ready for you to adopt and showcase to your visitors! From Velociraptors to Sabertooths, so many favourites are available to take in, care for and splice with others! By adding dinosaurs to your zoo, you will have the ability to create more than 10 million animal variants in the sandbox mode - are you ready to make the world's first Capysaurus or Donkey-Ceratops!? This review of Let’s Build a Zoo was facilitated by a code provided by the publisher. It’s available on PC.Let's Build A Zoo is available for PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch and PC ( Steam / Epic Games Store). The Dinosaur DLC is a fantastic addition to an already great game and is much of the same set up as your original zoo. You can fly there while working on your current zoo, and with you you’ll take a small stipend to set things up. The different dinosaurs are discovered and gain entry to your zoo through a group of palaeontologists who you can pay to discover more variants of dinosaur. With 51 dinosaurs to discover and display in your zoo, there is a lot of digging to be done. From your favourite stegosaurus to extinct mammals like woolly mammoths. The biggest issue for us is with the gene-splicing mechanic though. Any two animal types can be combined into hybrids. They’re popular with visitors but can’t be bred and so don’t really add much to your long-term expansion plans. We used the gene-splicing facilities instead to clone rarer animals for breeding which is way more important and, also, not entirely at odds with the game’s conservation-based theme.

It's not all cheerful panda-ing though, as Let's Build A Zoo can get pretty dark if you let it. Sure, you can build a loving environment for your animals, guests and staff... but with a fully-fledged morality system, you have the choice to go down an evil path, work your staff to the bone, and essentially turn your zoo into a meat factory. Oh deer, oh deer. Carp-e diem! If you're looking for aquarium DLC for your favorite zoo management sim, you've come to the right plaice. Let’s Build a Zoo, now available on consoles, is a lot of fun. But can you share the zookeeping shenanigans? Does it have multiplayer or co-op mode? It's time to Build a Zoo! Construct and decorate enclosures, buy and breed animals, hire zookeepers and vets... then try your hand at DNA splicing, and stitch together over 300,000 different types of animal. This can only go smoothly...With all that said, everything else is translated pretty well and makes the game relatively easy to play with an attempt to use as little buttons as possible trying not to convolute the controls. It’s a hard task but one I think Springloader has done creatively and intelligently. Dinosaur Island Expansion DLC Let's Build A Zoo truly lets you go wild, with hundreds of animals to breed and import, tons of buildings, foliage, decorations and path types to spruce up your monkey business, and plenty of staff options for keeping your animals happy, and your guests entertained. Learn all about your new charges and build environments perfect for their needs, from dense, lush forests to craggy volcanic peaks. If you'd rather your guests could get up close and personal there are brand new all-glass panels, as well as natural brush fencing! However, they’re not just mindless wallets on legs. Visitors need toilets, bins (if you don’t want litter everywhere) and they want to see that the animals are cared for. Also, if you want them to stay, the zoo needs decorations and, for late evening opening, decent lighting. All of this uses electricity and there’s a need to be ecologically responsible, so you might want to build wind-based electricity generators and pump your own water.

Feel like running a zoo, populated with all manner of disturbing hybrids? Ever wonder if a rabbit would still be as cute if it had a snake’s head? There's no release date for Let's Build a Zoo's paid Aquarium Odyssey expansion just yet, but it's said to be coming to PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC "later this year". The Switch port of Let’s Build a Zoo is very similar to the original PC version, though the Joy-Con controls aren’t quite as intuitive as a keyboard and mouse. At times the cursor got lost in the chaotic mess of bouncing rabbits that our zoo became, even with its rainbow trail on the screen. Other controls, such as bringing up the radial menu with 'ZL' were easy to navigate and soon became our preferred way to investigate issues with our zoo. Overall, these small issues with the game’s controls were largely balanced out by the fun of seeing our animal kingdom expand over time.If you need some footnotes, then I’ve got you: Let’s Build A Zoo takes the retro-style of old school Theme Park, and adds a lot more gusto. Players are here to build and run a zoo from the ground up to success. Everything is customizable, from the type of animals you have, to the paths you build, to the amount you pay your staff. Everything, including being a morally corrupt human that PETA would have a field day over. Yes, that is right, you can choose to have the best zoo to ever zoo in Zootown, or turn your animals into bacon. In the additional DLC, you can hollow out your dead dinosaurs for small children to play in. It is devilishly fantastic. The audio in-game is extremely joyful. Tightly knitted together with all of the sound FX from the Zoo you have just created, it really creates an environment you can just relax and game in. Obviously to relax you need to make sure you keep to your schedule! Longevity The answer is no. Let’s Build a Zoo doesn’t have a co-op mode, or any kind of multiplayer mode, so you can’t play with other players. It’s a single-player game, on both PC and console. There are no multiplayer options. Let’s Build A Zoo is just as wonderful on console as it was on its initial release on PC. As with any building management simulator, some controls will never feel completely intuitive moving from mouse to controller, and Let’s Build A Zoo is no different, but only in minor areas. The Dinosaur Island DLC takes all the highlights from the base game and amplifies them in a fantastic addition to an already extremely enjoyable game.

Your adventures on this unexplored Dinosaur Island will be full of brand new quests, moral choices and news articles. Build a successful Zoo in this lush, fresh setting, and make meaningful choices to shape it!Here I've been asked if I want to return someone's lost dog, or steal it and dress it as a lion for fun and profit.
