About this deal

If you want to see what an actual Grand Tableau reading can look like, take a look at one of my READING SAMPLE GT REPORTS, or at me using a Grand Tableau to predict future events in the UK over the course of a year. Good attention, as well as recognition for a dark haired woman (my consultant). This is supported by the Lily card which is all about “recognition”. The most basic significators are the Man and the Woman. If you identify as a woman, the Woman represents you. If you identify as a man, the Man represents you. If you want to gain insight into a particular part of your life, you can choose a different significator.

Other key positions to look at are the first few cards of the layout . These are usually at the top left of the Tableau - if you read like me from left to right. The Lenormand cards provide another way of peeking into the winding palace of one’s own mind - helping you plot out possible courses and actions that you can take. Like the tarot, I personally don’t believe that the divinatory use of the cards are the healthiest way of using them, but I have heard that for that purpose, Lenormand cards have yielded clear messages. But there are other layouts that can take on Tableau-style features - meaning having their cards being read as part of different lines. My own Hourglass and Diamond layouts are not rectangular or square, but they have Tableau-style features because their cards can be read as part of different lines in these configurations. You can find out more about these layouts here and here . First of all, you can incorporate some of the methods from other readings, particularly the 9 card spread. Reading the portrait involves practicing many techniques used in the Tableau: Reading columns, rows, and diagonals, and examining central cards. However, we’re not done! Since the lady is also 3rd in the first row, it goes to say that she’s also reflected in the 3rd card in the bottom row below! So in fact, she’s also mirroring card #18, the Dog!

Knighting in the Lenormand Grand Tableau is particularly useful to expose someone’s hidden motives, desires, or preoccupations. In fact, knighting is so powerful a technique that I have often felt exposed by my own students whenever they try to read me! Students will often hit the mark far too closely for my personal comfort, but it is a sure sign at how accurate this technique can be! Just use some caution when you apply it… and be prepared by your consultant’s disbelief! To mirror, imagine that you draw vertical and horizontal lines that divide the spread precisely in half. Then, imagine folding the spread along each line. Whichever cards would be positioned on top of one another are mirrored. With all 36 cards of the Lenormand laid out before you, it is very likely you may feel intimidated at first, having no idea where to begin. Still, there is no need to fear. The truth is - if you can read a Line of Five, or a Nine Card Spread - you can read the Grand Tableau. Just to remind you of some of the basic principles again, when reading through this guide, remember that cards are always read in pairs or strings. The number of cards that knight the significator will depend on the placement of the significator in the spread. So this makes for a very engaging experience when reading the cards, especially with bigger spreads like the Grand Tableau, because there is so much to dig out from so many lines to read. The cards are literally saying that there will be recognition for the Snake (or a dark haired woman – and she does have dark hair). In other words, if she keeps up her writing, she will be rewarded with fame and recognition. It does seem rather positive on the whole so far. When putting multiple lines together, some may appear to be at odds with others, but this can simply refer to different parts of the story.

Examples of Tableau-style layouts are the Grand Tableau of course, and the nine-card portrait. These are the classic ones because they are straightforward in their shape and they have a long history of being practiced as Tableaus. The cards below Lady is what is in my control, the cards above are what is in my head, what I'm thinking or bothered about. Here, instead of one continuous sentence, we now get a series of short ones, each giving us further insight into the matter at hand. We are starting to get a picture here of a love whose sudden passions were kindled from loneliness, and may end mysteriously. Mirroring Lenormand Pairs As an example, let’s say you draw the Sun, and then you draw the Letter. This pair could be interpreted as a widely communicated or broadcasted success because the Sun provides the noun (success), and the Letter gives us the adjective (communicated). As Readers, we aspire to the Grand Tableau and similar Tableau-style layouts where we can read the cards in all sorts of amazing ways. But what is Tableau-style exactly, and what makes it so special?
