Zombies provide each of these elements in abundance. You can use cards like Carrion Feeder, God-Eternal Bontu, Grimgrin Corpse-Born, and Corpse Harvester as sacrifice outlets. These also work well with cards like: As far as new cards go, there are some really interesting designs in this kit. Eloise, Nephalia Sleuth is a flavorful and mechanically interesting option for an alternative commander, while cards like Empty the Laboratory capture the polymorph dream, and Shadow Kin is just cool. Undead Unleashed is all about zombies and sacrifice effects. The idea is to have cards like Undead Augur in play when you sacrifice your creatures. You also have token-generating effects like Army of the Damned to provide you with enough expendable creatures to sacrifice. The second commander option is the newly released Eloise, Nephalia Sleuth, a human rogue for 3BlBk. The Eater can be regenerated by a sacrifice on the one hand, on the other hand, it can destroy a target creature with 2Bk and two other sacrificed creatures.

This guy is awesome. It’s a giant undead turtle. I don’t really care what it does, it’s just awesome.

Dearly Departed

In the earlier or later game before (or after) some board wipes, you will have enough tokens to use as a base for other cards. As an example, Empty the Laboratory uses sacrificed Zombies to put undead creatures revealed directly from the library into play. Wilhelt Zombies vol 11 more Budget Wilhelt Zombies vol 11 more Budget Wilhelt Zombies vol 11 more Budget Two cards, Go for the Throat and Feed the Swarm offers us the direct possibility of destroying an enemy creature, whereby the latter can also destroy enchantments. You’re trading 1 card to “draw 3,” which is only possible if you have 3 or more Creatures with different powers, and even then you put 1 card, mind you, one card in your hand. On the other hand, if you are targeting and controlling an opponent’s graveyard yourself, Havengul Runebinder is of use, which can remove creature cards from any graveyard for 2Bl to create a 2/2 Zombie token and put a +1/+1 token on each Zombie controlled.Nightweaver - made from Cursed Cloth and Phantom Membrane, gives you Shadow Form (true invisibility, speed boost and some smoke particles) when sprinting. Engaging in combat will interrupt this ability shortly. Great for moblility and stealth, doesn't provide as much protection. Because this combo is so strong we're going to add both Acererak and tutors to assemble our combo more consistently. Surprisingly, Midnight Hunt even came with a few toys for the Investigators out there. There aren’t many, but you still might consider running the ones there are:

Dark Salvation , Empty the Laboratory , Endless Ranks of the Dead , Ravenous Rotbelly , and Gravespawn Sovereign care about the number of Zombies in play and get better with expendable Decayed tokens. It’s worth noting that Empty the Laboratory and Ravenous Rotbelly are huge overperformers in Undead Unleashed, and are two of the best cards in the precon. Aristocrats (5-9) Recommended Commander: Wilhelt, the RotcleaverOur first of two money cards in Undead Unleashed is Curse of the Restless Dead, a card unique to this set. For only three mana even your land drops will generate zombie tokens for you. You can also enchant your opponent if you think they’ll be making more land drops than you, although they may hold their lands in hand if you do so. I don’t think this card is game breaking on its own but it can do some serious damage paired with the right sacrifice outlet. We also need a little more removal, so adding some removal pieces that support our Zombie synergies is a good way forward. Noxious Ghoul has no right to be as good as it is, and we should absolutely be playing it. The only card of significant value in Coven Counters is Bastion Protector, a reprint from Commander 2015. This Commander-specific card provides an extra layer of protection for your leader and curves out really nicely with Leinore, Autumn Sovereign since you can play the Protector on turn 3 and your commander on turn 4. The Verdict Tome of Reflection - a spellbook curio that can protect you from damage unleashing a small soul explosion. Requires Lost Souls to work and consumes them on use.
