About this deal

When it comes to painting Warhammer 40K armies with Typhus Corrosion, there are several factions that would benefit greatly from its eerie, corroded appearance. Here are three popular options: Whilst this might sound like something you’d expect to receive a lecture on whilst doing a Biology degree, our second way of using Dirty Down’s Rust Water Soluble Paint requires some different products to the first. Namely, Mournfang Brown or Typhus Corrosion. The same technical paint is also quite useful to add to terrain if you want to rough up a surface, add rust or just cover up a horrendous mistake. Unfortunately as the size of terrain grows the cost of adding Typhus Corrosion becomes prohibitive. To find away around this I searched the internet and asked around various Facebook groups. Unfortunately aside from finding several other people looking for an answer, I did not find a magic formula for making my own. So I went for the next best thing and went for a garden shed experiment. Now my mix will need the following properties: Cover the model in AK Worn Effects Acrylic Fluid. We used an airbrush for this, but you can use a regular brush too. Step 7 – Add Colour Similar t what we did in Method 1, we’re now going to apply some water to the miniature again. In the video, we used an airbrush on a very low pressure to spit small droplets of water over our model.

This paint may be used for more than just these three armies; in fact, it’s a terrific place for beginners to start if they want to try their hand at giving their miniatures a spooky, post-apocalyptic appearance. Typhus Corrosion Colour Schemes & Combinations It is a destructive types of corrosion that occurs when susceptible materials are exposed to environments with high carbon activities, including synthesis gas. Rust is identified as the breakdown of metal powder from bulk metal. Some miniatures just need a good coating of filth and weathering to make them really stand out. Whether it’s your Death Guard for Warhammer 40,0000, the skeletons in your Age of Sigmar Soulblight Gravelords, or something else entirely different, this guide will give you everything you need to get your miniatures looking as rusted as possible. How to Paint Rust on Miniatures and Models – Video Leave the model for around half an hour, and when you return to it you’ll see the area you applied water to will have gone quite yellow and will have left a very dark edge around any raised detail. You can see this on the front of the helmet in the image below. The Dirty Down rust paint works by pooling unevenly across a texture to create different colours and effects. If you add more texture to your miniature, you’ll only enhance this effect.

FauxHammer – Latest Video on YouTube How to Paint Rust on Miniatures and Models – Paints and Tools Tools The Typhus Corrosion paint from Citadel Colour is a versatile, acrylic-based paint that provides a basecoat of mottled, rusty green and brown hues. This paint provides excellent coverage and is a great choice for painting the rusted, worn metal surfaces of miniatures and terrain pieces in the Warhammer 40K universe. Its pigments are carefully chosen to provide a natural and weathered appearance, making it an ideal foundation for a beginner’s palette of colors for miniature painting. The matte finish adds a subtle touch of realism, giving the paint a timeless quality that evokes the grimdark atmosphere of the Warhammer 40K setting. What armies to paint with Typhus Corrosion For larger areas, brush over recesses – Use a larger base brush to fill in the recessed areas of your model. With larger areas, don’t worry about getting paint over the raised areas. For a metallic accent to your Typhus Corrosion, consider using the Citadel Colour paint called Mithril Silver. This paint provides a smooth and reflective finish, perfect for adding highlights and details to your miniature’s armor, weapons and other metallic surfaces. So, taking all that we learned from @gobble_inz and applying some of that signature FauxHammer corner cutting and hobby cheating charm, this is the method we came up with for painting rust using Dirty Down’s incredible Rust Water Soluble Paint. Step 1 – Priming

My first go was the rust-armour, and it was Leadbelcher, then Typhus Corrosion then Ryza Rust ended with sponge "chipping" or drybrush LeadBelcher, with sometimes some splotches of Nihilakh Oxide. It's really all about being a bit random and not be afraid to over do it with the rust and grime, as you can dampen it down some with Leadbelcher with some Agrax Earthshade. You’ll be left with a very realistic rust effect that takes full advantage of your model’s texture and explores a whole spectrum of worn-out, grimy colours. The @gobble_inz Method 2: The Mournfang-Typhus Method Get your loved-ones, housemates, co-habitors, neighbours and anyone who happens to walk by to give it a shake to. When your arms are all no longer responding to commands from your brain, you can stop shaking it and move on to Step 2. Step 3 – Apply All Over Chrome plating is an electroplating process in which chrome acid, called hexavalent chromium, is used. It is a method of electroplating a thin layer of chromium onto a metal part.
