As an aside i was chatting with my mechanic other day and mentioned that i was looking at VW's Quantum Oil. He responded by telling me that Quantum oil is of a poor quality and that id be better off using the Comma again - Wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this, as nearly everyone on here, UKMKIV's etc seem to unanimously recommend Quantum oil :S Quantum Long Life III has now been approved to BMW Long-life04 approvals, whilst also meeting MB specifications 229.31 and MB 229.51

Both are fully synthetic as far as i know, which is the big requirement for the 1.8T engine, as such i was wondering if i would benefit by using the LongLife III oil on the fixed schedule - or would this just be overcomplicating things for no real gains?
