About this deal

In 1976, a uniquely seductive world of vampires was unveiled in the now-classic Interview with the Vampire… in 1985, a wild and voluptous voice spoke to us, telling the story of The Vampire Lestat. Anne Rice continues her extraordinary Vampire Chronicles in a feat of mesmeric storytelling, a chillingly hypnotic entertainment in which the oldest and most powerful forces of the night are unleashed on an unsuspecting world. Di Bonaventura: If I remembered, I probably wouldn’t tell you, but no, I don’t remember that. I don’t know where that comes from. I mean, Jorge is a very trustworthy guy, so whatever he said is probably true, but it certainly wouldn’t have been my reaction.

Major franchises have been birthed from far less. While none of the cast of the modern horror classic were interested in returning for what became a belated sequel, Warner Bros. still had every tool at their disposal to create a new and lasting cinematic mythology. Immortality Doesn’t Mean a Vampire Movie Has All the Time in the World Lorenzo di Bonaventura, former Warner Bros. executive: We did Interview With the Vampire, and at that point I became aware that we also had control of The Vampire Lestat. I had met Aaliyah. She came into my office for a general meeting that our music guys had set up. After, I called [producer] Joel Silver and I said, “We should do Romeo Must Die with Aaliyah.” She obviously sparked in that movie, and so we were looking to put another one together with her. Throughout his long life, Lestat is plagued by common philosophical questions, such as "Are my actions good or bad?", "Is there a God?", "Am I in His plan?", "What happens after death?", and "What makes a person happy?" He finds himself more in love with humanity than ever before, despite his relationship with mankind being savage. For a while, he sees life as "the Savage Garden", filled with beauty and death. Armand and Claudia – we have to sympathize with because they never got the chance to be adults before being “turned” but rather than scoff at them, they need more understanding and care.

Lestat plays an infuriating Judas in the end, robbing the mythology of a truly and irrevocably evil character. As in the book, Lestat is something of a hero, saving mankind and weaker vampires. Ignoring Perfectly Good Origin Stories

As the source of all vampires, Akasha is connected to all vampires by the blood and spirit they collectively share. In an experiment by the first Keeper, Akasha and Enkil are exposed to sunlight when they are several thousand years old. This merely darkens their skin. However, the result on all other vampires is extreme, and many of the weakest vampires die, thus confirming the legend that anything that harms Akasha will also directly affect all of her progeny. Anne Rice’s prose always go down well with me, I particularly like her description of the elation and shame of vampire feeding: The sleep of a group of men and women, vampires and mortals, around the world is disturbed by a mysterious dream of red-haired twins who suffer an unspeakable tragedy. The dreamers, as if pulled, move toward each other, the nightmare becoming clearer the closer they get. Some die on the way, some live to face they terrifying fate their pilgrimage is building to. Bailey, Jason (27 March 2013). " 'Tom Was Lestat For Me': Authors Who Loved the Film Versions of Their Books". The Atlantic . Retrieved 26 March 2019.Moreau: I have snatches of memory of us going out dancing. What I wore out dancing and what she wore out dancing was like the difference between Hot Topic and Armani. She has such a generous heart and spirit. I heard she was shooting her album cover with David LaChapelle in Australia, and I was obsessed with David. She kept saying, “Come to the studio, come to the studio! Come hang out!” She let me play the music the whole time. Khayman. I felt bad for him. Khayman was so old, one of the oldest, and he was just so lonely. The poor man just kept trying to be friends with every vampire he came across. He offered his name freely, he tried to help them, etc. He did a terrible thing in the past, absolutely, but he admitted that and regretted it and only did it because he would’ve been killed otherwise and someone worse would’ve just been commanded to do it anyway, so I was able to like him for who he is now. I’m happy he finally has a coven of sorts. The Ancients Rise" - The scene was originally part of Lestat's satellite dish montage. It was cut as a part of the overall de-emphasis of the Ancients. Overall, Anne Rice is a great read and I hope the TV series (though they have made slight changes) like the film will be astounding!!!!!!
