About this deal

Just after we tested Shining 3D’s latest FreeScan UE in July, we eagerly received the all-new Einstar for another exciting review. All of these tools are intuitive to use, you get the hang of them in a single afternoon or less. Aligning the point clouds A hurdle for some potential Einstar users will be the demanding system requirements of its Exstar software. You’ll find that a computer that can handle the software will cost at least the same as the scanner itself. The official recommended specs are as follows: System Requirements As this is a handheld scanner, there is no turntable or tripod included. While we have found a turntable to be useful for scanning smaller objects with the Einstar—more on this later—you won’t need one for most scanning tasks. The scanner comes with a convenient carrying case containing the Einstar 3D scanner, the calibration board, markers, and the cables. Here is the full list of items you will find in the box:

So, Accuracy and Resolution represent differently, and if you are unsure of the level of accuracy or resolution you need, our team of measurement experts are here (embedded link of [email protected]) to help. We then set up the Einstar by plugging everything in. It comes with a two-in-one cable just like on more professional 3D scanners; the power cable plugs into the data cable, which is plugged into the scanner. Calibration Do you think I would be better off selling it and getting an Einstar for my use? And could I do without putting dry shampoo everywhere? The resolution provided by the Einstar varies depending on the selected scanning mode. In the portrait mode the point distance is 0.2–3 mm. The object mode allows you to create point clouds with a point distance of 0.1–0.5 mm for small objects and 0.2–3 mm for larger parts. The scanner is able to create accurate scans at an impressive speed, yielding professional-grade results. For starters, you can use these in the health industry. One of the top uses for it in the health industry is for fake items that try to replicate real body parts. Two of the biggest times where this comes into play are for prosthetics and plastic surgery.Bit of a curveball, but the iPhone 14 Pro (and in act the iPhone 13 Pro) are excellent 3D scanners. Sometimes the best tool is the one you (may) already have, and since the release of the iPhone 13 Pro, the LiDAR Scanner that comes with both the 13 and 14 Pro has been used as part of the AR solution for creatives and as a 3D scanner. The top indicator is used to show the distance from the scanner to the object. Blue means the distance is too far, green is good, and red is too close. To capture maximum detail, you want to keep the indicator green as much as possible.

However, if you are a professional that doesn’t want to fiddle around attempting to get a good scan, then the Einscan H is the bare minimum of what you should be using. In the end, the Einstar is a budget device that offers matching results. Verdict: Who Should Buy the Einstar 3D Scanner? While it was our first time reviewing a product from the FreeScan series, the Einstar is our fifth review from the EinScan line. We tested the EinScan-Pro (2016), the EinScan-SP (2017), the EinScan Pro 2X Plus (2019), and the hybrid laser and structured light EinScan HX (2020).

If you need to be sold on just how handy and powerful an iPhone can be, take a look at the newly announced Metahuman Animator from Epic Games that enables you to scan an actor's performance and render the mocap data into a 3D, animated model. Are 3D scanners worth the money? Before starting to scan, you need to create a new project group. While scanning large items or multiple objects at a time that require different align modes, you may need to perform several scans. Each of them will be saved as a single project in the project group folder and then aligned either manually or automatically.

Accurate results require multiple scans of the calibration artifacts (usually a certified ball bar) at different angles under ideal environmental conditions according to the VDI/VDE 2634 standard. Each scanner in the EinScan Pro Series, EinScan H Series follows the same standards to ensure accuracy is controlled within the listed values.

This is Top 3D Shop, and today we are going to review the Shining 3D Einstar, the company’s most affordable handheld 3D scanner providing professional quality. It's safe to say that it's important for doctors to get this kind of item done right the first time. A 3D scanner can help improve the odds of this. They are sufficient for basic 3D models and are useful to add some visual appeal to otherwise dull 3D scans. That said, capturing textures takes more time and computing power, and is not always necessary in all scanning tasks. It’s best to decide whether or not you need it for each individual project. Outdoor Scanning The Einstar is not a budget or entry scanner, yet it is not a professional grade scanner, if it were a camera 📸 it would be called “Prosumer” which is technology that is higher than the usual consumer entry option with some features that are available on professional units (think Canon 90D or Canon R6 Mark II). Cameras in this range from Nikon, Canon, and Sony are called Prosumer. This scanner is a Prosumer Scanner, and it is the first in that range and right now it is in a league of its own. Shining 3D didn’t just make a scanner to compete with the competition, they made a whole new level of scanner! We prefer the single-software solution of Shining 3D’s scanners, as it makes the user experience more consistent and less confusing.
