About this deal

Overall, what do I think? I think they are very good for what they do though they are more expensive, but the quality is there. Don’t get me wrong and they certainly seem to be being marketed as a top quality product though there are plenty of options out there on the market if you know what you are after. I’d give the set 4/5 looking at the overall set. They are very good and to a higher quality than their predecessors. Are they worth the price tag that they have attached? I think that’s down to each individual. For me working with a lot of Forge World models lately I am glad to have something a bit more solid in my hands to work with and don’t mind parting with the coins. For those with a tighter budget it’s worth exploring your options taking in to account the materials you are working with. Wargames start on the precipice of constructing and building an army, Let’s take a look at GW’s hobby tools and see if they get the job done.

There are however several aspects that need to be noted about the citadel anti-piracy method. Some of the key points can be listed down as follows: Personally, Other than reviewing it, I never use these, I much prefer a hobby knife for doing everything this can – and the next stage of cleanup too. Citadel Tools: Knife Review This is my baby, I had this model for over 20 years and they still make them now. It is generally everything you want from a typical pin vice. Solid build, decent size and weight. smooth spinning motion. It comes with 2 two-sided collets. one is stored in the handle one is stored in the front. Modelcraft Pin Vise If I were GW, I think they are missing an opportunity here. They should look to reduce the price to match the production quality they now have, and market them as beginner tools. Then they should design and release a series of pro tools aiming to be the best-in-class.Finally we have the new Clippers. These are a fantastic bit of kit and the spring mechanism feels much better on these and is inside the joint. With more weight and a pinpoint tip it makes clipping those hard to reach pieces much easier which when working with resin and its kin can be frustrating at the best of times. The blades are designed to shear the plastic now meaning that we fire less projectile plastic at friends and family who are unfortunate to be sitting in the close proximity. These feel great to use and should stand the test of time. 5/5 on these as the old ones were not bad but these have taken steps to reduce the scarring on models, increasing precision and try to stop us having to get the hoover out after we have put together a plastic kit. Another 5/5.

The most important part of the tool is your drillbits. I don’t mean the strength of them, bar the few occasions you are drilling metal, even the cheapest bits should be able to drill plastic just fine. I used to work at Vision Express’s head office in Nottingham, (not far from Warhammer World actually) every day on my commute with my friend ( The Writer: David Christopher Johnston). We would make a joke about a local farmer who was selling Dry, Hardwood Logs. Look, I’m gonna be upfront. it’s not a clever anecdote but many of you can probably relate to the crap you talk about on a repeated 1-hour commute.

The mouldline remover is still best in class for what it does and not the worst price in the world.

The new knife is made of plastic like all the new tools, but has a more ergonomic shape. What I particularly like, and what I haven’t seen before in any other scalpel knife, is how the handle extends over the top of the blade. This makes it easier to apply pressure when cutting without having to worry about the blade breaking. I think that’s pretty ingenious. Now I’ll go so far as to say these are a functional improvement over the last generation of citadel clippers. Both in use and the ergonomics. Whilst the last generation were the coolest-looking clippers around, they were uncomfortable for all but the people who had larger hands. For reference my glove size is Large and I found them a little too big. For the number of little things we need to cut, this frequently led to overextending fingers to the point they would mildly ache. And despite how cool they looked, this style also added to the weight. It is the best tool for drilling barrels and barrel ports if you’re into that sort of thing and the current model comes with two different sized bits. They can also be used for pinning, and the two sizes mean you can use things like paper clips or brass rod depending on your project. I’ve not used the existing Citadel Knife, but having seen the existing one I would be hard pressed to understand the price. Ergonomically it is no different than a basic cheap Xacto knife and it uses the same blades. For the last couple of years, there has been a cheaper version of this, If you collected Warhammer Conquest Mortal Realms or Warhammer Imperium partworks magazines, your first issue would come with a micro mould-line remover. this was basically the old citadel mould line remover with the handle removed – Thankfully garfy from Tale of Painters made a simple 3D render you could print to recreate the handle.

In the announcement post GW stated that these new clippers feature a “clever stopper system also makes sure that the blades don’t get dulled, so they’ll stay sharp. My immediate thought was that the blades are offset. Offset clipper blades do not meet blade to blade; one is positioned slightly higher than the other so they intersect. A smooth cut is made when the bottom blade slices cleanly past where the top blade began its path. Not all Pin Vises hold this diameter however so I will note the ones below which do.
