The Nelson Water Train is not recommended for a 19mm (¾ Inch) hose unless it is in short runs as the extra weight of hose pipe and water within it can damage the internal gear box. The body is made of cast iron, the manufacturer says it is “rust resistant”, but our old sprinkler is indeed starting to rust a bit.

The sprinkler is propelled along the ground by the water pressure and follows the pattern laid by the hose. The Nelson travelling lawn sprinkler features a powerful two-speed transmission for high and low speeds. This is a great bit of kit solving a real problem of having to constantly move your sprinkler to water the garden.The hose can be up to 200 feet long, with the Rain Train at one end, and the shut-off ramp at the other. Travelling Sprinklers are the perfect solution for schools and businesses which have multiple fields or facilities to water and maintain. The picture to the right shows the automatic shut off device activating against the supplied ramp underneath the sprinkler. More people with fine lawns use these and some people prefer them to in ground systems which are prone to breakdown and broken pipes. The Rain Train Travelling Sprinkler is a fantastic little product that is cost effective but easy to setup and operate. Love being able to set the sprinkler and have it shut off when it gets done without me having to be there to babysit it! It is believed to be one of the only solid forged versions of a half moon edging tool making it one of the strongest in the market.Inherited one of these sprinkler tractors many many years ago and it finally broke, found they still sell them and purchased a new one, it looks just like the one I had and works great. If you envision this model tractor sprinkler is just like the ones in use many years ago, you're going to be disappointed. Also don't expect it to do more than 75 feet and you should get consistent service over the long haul. Please Note: Some light dripping may occur from the shut off switch when the sprinkler is in operation, this is normal and does not indicate a fault. Once a gear is selected and the water is turned on the sprinkler will follow the hose pipe back towards the tap.

I had to find a correct adaptor It would have been much easier if a adaptor was supplied, or I was advised I would need one !
