About this deal

She’s evoked emotions and memories and also made me question how far I would go to ensure my horse was safe. I really enjoyed the book and think other horse lovers would too, so here is my review of ‘The Horse Dancer’. Like there were just a few other people in the world who spoke his language and all of them lived in that one place” (p. Natasha presents as quite a cold person in contrast to her happy-go-lucky, easy-going ex-husband but I think she was the one character of the novel that underwent the most change and it was a fascinating journey to experience for me as a reader.

Henri Lachappelle was part of an elite French calvary skilled in an art form of dressage dating back over 250 years. As with many of Jojo's books we have two stories running concurrently and we hear the points of view of many of the main characters alternately.

Sarah is a strong teenage character who like most teenagers is reticent in sharing their feelings or asking for help. Cowboy John ran the urban stables where Boo lived, he seemed kind although a bit quirky and his character added to the stables peculiarity as a little haven hidden from the rest of the world in the middle of central London.

There are times when you want to throttle all of them but then later want to applaud them for what’s truly in their hearts.

With each perceived “failure,” Natasha judges herself harshly, and projects that judgment onto others, letting those negative perceptions color her relationships. Moyes uses quotes from the book to head up each chapter and I have to say that my curiosity was piqued about how something so old, probably 500BC, was still venerated today. There are thousands of reviews for this book, but I cannot judge this compared to others by the author since this is the first of hers I have ever read. In the midst of wondering what to do about her charming ex-husband, she reads on someone else’s newspaper that one of the children she defended in court has committed a violent crime. But then her grandfather falls ill, and Sarah must juggle horsemanship with school and hospital visits.
