About this deal

Wow I didn't know sweat smelled like rainwater and apples and rainbows and flowers and Lucy is always smelling Josh 24/7. I liked the characters well enough and really felt for them during some scenes, but I just never 100% committed to them. Sally’s third novel Second First Impressions is released AU/NZ 31 March 2021, and US/CAN 13 April 2021.

Lucy is a creative who resists the office uniform and wears her own version by dressing in, and I quote, “Cool Librarian Chic” (I haz things to say about this “look” but I will leave it for another post). I couldn’t put it down until Lucy and Josh’s all-consuming hateship changed into a tentative friendship and then a juicy, tender, adorable love.Lucy through her fever hears them arguing about attending his brother’s wedding and we the readers start to get a glimpse into the character of, so far quite distant Joshua. My favourite author is Cassandra Clare and I also enjoy books by Rick Riordan, Sarah J Mas, Marrisa Meyer, Marie Lu, etc etc. Honestly, if your friend were to come and tell you all of these things Lucy went through in real time, you would never encourage her to have a relationship with that man. Wie sie immer mit einander spielen aber insgeheim man schon weiß das sie sich lieben ist Mega zu lesen. And she played up the whole “little kid” aspect of being small so much that it was a bit weird at times (almost as weird as her obsession with Smurfs…).

The Hating Game is a feel-good and uplifting read that I can guarantee you’ll want to read again, as soon as you’ve finished. Although the author made it very clear that Josh is supposed to be some sort of demi-god, that still doesn’t justify Lucy’s obsession with him. It’s fine that she is denying her feelings for him and his for her, but throughout the book, she just seems increasingly more dense and willfully delusional about it. But the drama that unfolds over Josh at the wedding with his family and his lies by omission to Lucy was just kind of.She lives in Canberra, Australia with her husband in a house filled with vintage toys, too many cushions, a haunted dollhouse and the world’s sweetest pug. Lucy is an exhausting bundle of quirks — your stereotypical manic pixie dream girl — who thinks she doesn’t have friends because she’s always working but really doesn’t have friends because she’s awful.

After enjoying The Kiss Quotient last week, I thought I’d better pick up another romance novel so that it would be ready for me when the mood struck again– and it’s a good thing I did, because here we are. Author: Sally Thorne lives in Canberra, Australia, and spends her days writing funding submissions and drafting contracts (yawn! The games they played and ways they tried to mess with the other every chance they got was addicting. Lucy and Joshua share an office in front of their bosses’ offices, and for the past two years (I think? In the beginning, Josh is seen as an emotionally stunted character, but as we make headway in the book, we can see that there’s more to Josh.

so it’s not surprising that after hours she climbs into colorful fictional worlds of her own creation. I really enjoyed the depth and different facets that the author gave their personalities and their romance, in that regard. So why is she suddenly having steamy dreams about Joshua, and dressing for work like she’s got a hot date?
